Chapter Thirty
Auryn didn't want to leave the palace in the morning, but she knew she had to. It took everything to not wake up her sleeping sisters. They had agreed that they needed a sister sleepover after the ball. So they all put on the pj's together and then did face masks and watched a movie with some popcorn in Nyota's bed.
Now, Auryn was sneaking out to go to her own ceremony of sorts. She didn't want to, she wanted to have breakfast with her sisters and spend a day in the palace with them seeing what their lives were like. Hopefully getting to a point where their lives could integrate together.
But that would have to wait one more day.
Auryn snuck out of bed and into the bathroom where she did her business and made herself look more normal, she made sure to leave the door slightly cracked so they knew she wasn't in there before teleporting out.
She went back to her own room in the Priestess temple and changed into her traditional outfit. The white shirt with the two slits she added for her legs, and then the white top she had cropped. Priestesses could do whatever they wanted to the clothes once they got them, so everyone had a slightly different variation of the white cloth. Most cut the skirt to be shorter, some turned it into pants, and some even went as far as turning the whole thing into a one-piece body suit.
Next, Auryn pulled on the white cloak. The one piece that had to stay the same without any adjustments. She tied it around her shoulders then put the hood over her head. The she slipped on the slipper shoes she had to wear for this and walked out to find the other Priestesses.
She knew there were plenty in the kitchen because she could hear them bellow making so much noise. This made her secretly happy she stayed at the palace last night so she wasn't up before the sun rose with the kitchen staff. Auryn made her way down a flight of stairs and towards the middle of the temple to see if anyone was training this morning. There was no one there yet, and it was rather quiet so she went to see if she could find someone in the library. Again, there was no one reading.
Auryn went to the last place she figured they would be before she asked the kitchen. Outside in the garden, and there was Priestess Ravenna.
She was sitting on one of the white stone benches, watching the flowers. She was also dressed in her ceremonial outfit and Auryn watched her from afar for a moment before approaching.
"Good morning," Auryn said quietly and then sat down beside Ravenna.
Ravenna grinned at her and then pulled her into a hug, "today's your big day!"
Auryn laughed, "a little overshadowed by what I saw yesterday."
Ravenna smacked her arm, "you don't need a ball and a parade. You just need to people you love around you."
Auryn thought for a second that she would really like if her sisters and maybe even her father could come, but she had only just re-met them yesterday. Perhaps it was too early to tell if she liked them enough to really want them here.
Ravenna must have noticed her thinking so hard, but didn't know what it was about. "Are you one-hundred-percent sure? You're giving up your birthright. You can never be Queen after today. You will only ever be a Princess."
Auryn was surprised that was what Ravenna thought was making her hesitate. "Of course I want this. I do not want to be Queen, I never wanted to be Queen. And this will make it easier for Nyota to keep it now that she has it."
Ravenna gave her another big hug, "I know but just in case we were crushing your dream."
Auryn laughed, "no I was just thinking about having Nyota and Corvina come to see my ceremony too but that probably can't happen."
