Chapter Forty-Seven
Auryn always enjoyed returning home to her little room in the Priestess castle.
Typically she was met with a feeling of accomplishment, she would lay down and write about all of her adventures in her journal. Since her and Nyota were finally speaking, she now brought her journal a few days later to read it out to her sister and add anything she might have forgotten.
It became much easier to return home every time now that she had her sister to talk to. Sure, the Priestesses were great but they were dealing with their own assignment detox the way they knew best. Even Kira had other things going on constantly, even more so since she started dating Callum. Nyota was always here and ready for a recap.
Part of her wanted less time between missions so she could go faster on a new adventure and come back faster with with a new story. Part of her wanted to spend more of their time with Nyota, and not go back on the missions. She was spending more and more time in the palace, learning what Nyota has to do every day and getting to know Corvina when she wasn't at school.
Then there were the times Auryn did really need a break, she would go to Earth Realm to relax. Back to her first house and her first town. Nyota never wanted to come with her, but that was alright it was good alone time.
This time, when she went home, Ravenna was there too already. She had supper on and she had two plates set.
Auryn watched her cook for a minute before she spoke, "please tell me you had no idea I was coming."
Ravenna jumped and turned around, "oh Auryn. You can't just appear like that."
Auryn raised an eyebrow, she literally did this all the time. Auryn instead gestured to the two plates, "you have a guest then?"
Ravenna took a deep breath and gave a shaky laugh, "I have a date actually."
Auryn's eyebrows shot up in surprise and her mouth formed an 'o' shape. She gave the room another once-over. There were flowers and she had even tidied the pillows on the couch.
"Alright," Auryn laughed awkwardly and let herself fade back into her Earth Realm form, "looks like I'm going out tonight."
Ravenna gave an awkward laugh, "thank you?"
Auryn went to her room to get a bag and fill it with clothes, her wallet, deodorant, anything she might need for a night or a few away. She could go anywhere she wanted for a brief time and not be called in to work a mission. She grabbed her passport at the last second, just in case.
As she left her room, she said goodbye to Ravenna and walked herself to the bus depot. It was early evening and there were still plenty of bus times available.
Auryn looked at the board for a long time before deciding on a place to go. She bought her ticket and then waited to board. She even took the time to get some snacks from the vending machine before getting on the bus.
The bus ride was a little longer than she would have expected, but when she got off she was excited. Going to the hotel desk, she got herself a room and then indulge in some room service before bed.
The next morning she got up early to enjoy the area she was in. She put on a bathing suit under her clothes and then she put on her favourite hiking gear. Auryn had to ask the restaurant to make her a to-go lunch, but it seemed like it was a frequent request so they made it in no time along with her breakfast.
Then Auryn set off on her hike into the mountains.
Since she left as the sun was rising, it was high in the sky when she finally arrived at her destination. Auryn took no time in stripping down to her bathing suit and jump into the crystal clear lake.
