Chapter Forty-Six

Auryn woke up the next day excited. They were going to a party. The host was an asshole, but that didn't make it any less exciting. A night among the stars sounded more like a Nyota kind of party, but Auryn was still going to enjoy herself as much as possible.

She was up early and walking into Kai's room.

Kai, very surprised and still half asleep because he was still in bed, jumped and covered himself with his covers, "why are you awake?"

Auryn grinned at him, "well, what else was I going to be doing? I'm ready to get party ready!"

Kai groaned and fell back onto his pillow, "please go back to bed."

Auryn walked over to the side of his bed and grabbed his hand, "please, come on!"

"The shops aren't even open yet!"

"We will be first in line!" Auryn pulled, "come on this is so exciting!"

Kai pulled back and Auryn was so surprised she ended up half on his bed, half hanging off. Kai noticed immediately that he had her caught off guard and pulled her all the way onto the bed, then wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her to the middle of the bed. She didn't have a chance to gather herself and the next thing she knew he was laying over top of her.

Her stomach was trapped under his stomach and he pulled a pillow under his head so that he could fall back to sleep.

Auryn groaned and poked his arm, "is this really necessary?"

"Yes," Kai answered without hesitation, "goodnight."

"It's morning!" Auryn insisted but Kai did not move.

Auryn could have threw him off of her, but his bed was way more comfortable than hers and he was like a warm weighted blanket.

She snuggled in deeper.

Auryn woke again, but this time she was stiff and super hot and with less movement allowed than when she fell asleep.

Kai had curled around her. He was using her as a pillow and keeping her whole body locked in place. Auryn took a deep breath and tried to shimmy out so she wouldn't wake him.

It did not work, his eyes shot open the second she moved just a little bit. He saw that it was just her and then relaxed immediately. Kai snuggled back into Auryn's neck and took a deep breath while he stretched.

"That was the best nap I've ever had," Kai said and smiled.

Auryn frowned at him, and tried to slow down her heart that had started to race. What was he doing? What was she doing?

Auryn patted his side, "can we go shopping now?"

Kai laughed, "you don't want to enjoy the comforts of my bed just a little longer?"

Auryn groaned and pushed his face away a little so she could look at him, "you're going to have to do better than that to keep me in here."

Kai's arms tightened, "what, my good looks and smooth personality aren't enough?"

Auryn scoffed, "yes." But her heart said no. Part of her was questioning why she would ever want to leave this bed right now. Why would she want to leave this moment right now?

This was not how Auryn usually dealt with her bonds. Usually she would explain them and embrace it. Live life to the fullest. Why was Kai different?

Auryn remembered then, "what are you?" she whispered.

Kai stiffened and opened his eyes finally to look at her. He looked worried, but Auryn was just asking. She didn't look upset or anything, she just wanted the answer.
