Chapter Thirty-Four

It took three days for Willow to show up on Auryn's doorstep.

Willow looked like she had been through hell and back. Her hair was a mess, and she was wearing sweats which Auryn knew Willow hated to do outside of her own apartment. Auryn could also see the bags under her eyes, as if she hadn't slept in the three days she had been gone.

Auryn didn't say anything but stepped to the side as a way to show Willow that she could come in. Auryn did really want to talk to Willow, she wanted to find the truth and work things out because leaving on bad terms after so much time together was not something she wanted to do.

Willow shook her head, "we need your help."

Auryn raised an eyebrow, "and its so urgent that you're not coming in to talk?"

Willow nodded and took a deep breath, "one of the monsters from your world is out, it's really close to a town near Marshal's house and we need help getting rid of it before anyone sees."

Auryn blinked, "how far from his house?"

Willow gave Auryn directions, but Auryn reached for Willow's hand, "we're obviously teleporting there."

Willow looked at Auryn's outstretched hand with fear, "I'm not ready to fight anything."

Auryn gave her a small smile, "I'll make sure you're protected and out of the way."

Willow hesitated a second longer, but she looked into Auryn's eyes and must've seen truth there because she placed her hand in Auryn's. Auryn stepped out into the hallway, closing the door but not locking the apartment because she did not have time to get the keys or care about what was in there. Then she teleported towards Marshal's house.

They ended up on the road that led to his driveway.

Willow let go of Auryn and stumbled, "what the hell?"

Auryn left her alone to get her bearings, "sorry, teleporting sucks the first couple times."

Willow tried to glare at her, but her eyes were having difficultly focusing on one place, "some warning could have been nice."

Auryn didn't say anything, she just waited. Eventually Willow straightened up and looked around. "We're still far off."

Auryn held out her hand again, "which direction?"

Willow eyed her hand wearily then looked around. "We need to go like 10 miles that way," Willow pointed and Auryn waited.

Willow seemed to brace herself before she put her hand back in Auryn's, so she made sure to teleport quickly. Auryn did not know how far Willow meant, but she tried her best. They appeared close enough now that Auryn could hear the crashing and growling. Willow gagged and Auryn looked at her, "you okay if I get closer and start fighting?"

Willow waved her off with a very quiet, "go!"

Auryn was sure if she teleported again so soon she would actually throw up so it was better to leave her over here for now. Auryn teleported herself closer and stepped back as she took in the scene.

There was a dragon, and two people fighting the dragon. Auryn did not recognize the dragon, and yes she took that couple extra seconds to look at it. If she did know the dragon, it would make taking it down a whole lot easier.

Auryn let out a loud groan of annoyance, summoned her whip, and swung her arm. The whip wrapped around the dragons front leg, and its head turned to look at her. Auryn pulled on the whip, summoning all of her strength and magic.

The dragon's leg fell out from under it and its face hit the ground in a lard THUD. The two people turned to look at Auryn in surprise. Their helmets had face holes so she could see their expressions clearly. Auryn didn't waste anymore time and charged, she unraveled her whip as she ran and then swung it again, this time wrapping it around its first horn on the top of its head.
