Chapter Six

Auryn's second day in the wolf school started the same. She ate breakfast in her room while she got ready and Anna showed up to bring her to math class. Anna looked over her outfit again and sighed, "you're not going to get Brandt looking like that."

Auryn looked down at her baggy clothes and then gestured to the sweater she was wearing. It was grey and had little green leaves stitched into the bottom. They came up almost like vines, and they were the same colour as the plaid pants. "But I think this sweater really pulls the look together," she grinned at Anna.

Anna stared at the sweater then looked at Auryn's face, almost like she wanted to be sure Auryn was being serious. "You look like a grandma."

"Perfect!" Auryn marched out of her room and then waited for Anna in the hallway. Anna closed the door and Auryn locked it.

Anna then grumbled something and looked down at her own outfit, "I don't know if I can hangout with you if you're going to dress like that."

Auryn laughed, "you will always look better standing next to me."

Anna's face lit up, "oh my gosh."

That seemed to be all the convincing she needed to start her day. Anna put her arm through Auryn's and dragged her to class. Auryn couldn't help but scan the math room when they arrived. Brandt wasn't there yet and Anna caught her looking. She poked her side then let go of her arm to head to her chair.

Auryn sat in the chair the teacher made her sit the day before, and he was right at his desk looking just as grumpy. Perhaps he isn't a morning person, or maybe he just hates teenagers. Auryn could probably come up with a million reasons he was always so grumpy and never find out the truth.

Brandt entered the room in the same fashion as the day before, with a crowd around him. But today was a little different as the atmosphere in the room became stiff and anxious. Auryn didn't notice anything different at first, but as the group came to take their seats, there was a new guy beside Brandt that became visible to Auryn.

Auryn stared at the newcomer as him and Brandt stared back at her. The teacher was the first to make an action, clearing his throat and welcoming the new guy back to class. "We hope your week off was exciting."

Auryn looked away and towards the teacher. He was still frowning, but he looked like he was getting ready to teach. The day was starting and Auryn had to focus.

Brandt and the not-so-new-guy sat directly behind her. Brandt was in the chair directly behind her and the other guy was at an angle to her right.

She slowly turned around and frowned at Brandt, "why?"

His mouth slowly turned upward into a grin. Auryn's breath caught and she turned back to the front of the room very quickly. The other guy let out a light laugh and Auryn glued her eyeballs to the front board. She couldn't move, she didn't even want to open her books. What were these two up to? She didn't want to know.

The bell rang and the teacher started the class immediately. Auryn tried to listen but she couldn't focus. The only time she actually did something was when the teacher asked everyone to open their textbooks to a certain page. Everything else flew over her head because all she could hear was Brandt fidgeting behind her.

He kept clicking his pen and there was no way he was writing anything useful because his pen strokes were too long. Unless he wrote like a caveman. Auryn was hyper aware of it all.

When the bell rang, she couldn't move.

The other guy appeared beside her desk and offered a hand to help her out of her chair, she blinked at it and then looked up at his face. He looked much different than Brandt, his skin was lighter and his hair was bleach blonde. His proportions were also much smaller, less muscle.
