Chapter Forty-Five
Auryn was going crazy. Kai had left her alone for the rest of the day. He tried once to get her food but she was not hungry. After everything that happened, if she ate now she would probably puke it all back up.
After that, she couldn't even sleep.
The next morning she opened their joined door and stared at Kai with bloodshot eyes from tossing and turning all night. "Today we need to do something that is outside of this stupid house, because I am going to loose it if I don't sleep tonight."
Kai looked at her with alarm, "yeah, sure. Maybe brush your hair though?"
Auryn glared and slammed the door again. She did want to look normal but he didn't have to point it out.
She brushed her hair a little too aggressively, which she didn't even have to do. She could have used magic to fix it but she was too upset. Then she went back out to meet up with Kai. He was shirtless.
Both of them jumped and Kai covered his chest with his arms, "what happened to knocking."
Auryn frowned at him then looked at his chest, she couldn't help it, "I thought you were ready to go already."
Kai turned and grabbed a new shirt from his closet, and quickly pulled it over his head, "sometimes I change my mind about what I'm wearing."
Auryn raised an eyebrow and watched him grab a jacket to even more cover himself. It made her laugh, "okay diva, where are we going?"
Kai shrugged, "somewhere up top probably."
"Down here isn't fun?"
Kai shook his head, "you'll have to be a mindless zombie if we stay down here. A lot of people know who I am. You won't be able to enjoy any of it."
Auryn frowned, "well that sucks."
Kai shrugged, "don't worry, its still fun up there."
They had to go to a weird room with an elevator and Auryn was surprised, "you go to the upperworld literally through an elevator?"
Kai gave her a funny look, "how else did you think we would get there?"
Auryn didn't have any ideas in that moment, mostly because she was so baffled. An elevator? This place was weird.
They got in and Kai punched in a code rather than what floor he wanted. Auryn looked at the control panel to see that there were no floors at all.
"How do you remember where you're going?" Auryn whispered. It was so quiet there wasn't even music playing so she felt like she also had to be quiet.
"There's only one place to go either way. Just have to know the code," Kai answered rather loudly and Auryn felt like his voice was too big for the space.
Auryn didn't speak again until the elevator doors opened and she was able to escape. The room here was so similar to the first room they were in Auryn first thought they didn't move at all. She logically knew that the elevator had moved, she felt it. Her eyes were just betraying her. Then she looked up and there was blue sky that wasn't there before and she took a deep breath.
Kai looked at her, a little concerned, "are you sure you're up for this?"
Auryn glared at him, "don't try to change my mind. I want to see this world not just your bedroom."
Kai frowned at her, "my bedroom is nice."
Auryn rolled her eyes, "bedrooms are for sleeping, not to be stuck in every day."
