I heard a knock on my apartment door, so I ran to it, and opened it. I hid my legs behind the door because I wasn't wearing any pants. Just my sports bra and underwear.
But it was just Luke, so I didn't care.
He stood there with his hands in his pockets with his gaze switching to the floor. "I messed up." He whispered, and I rolled my eyes. "You can tell me, 'I told you so', now because she broke my heart. You were right." He said, and looked up at me.
I warned Luke about his girlfriend right when he asked her out two months ago. She's trouble. I said he can either trust me, his best friend, or he can leave me alone because I wanted nothing to do with her. He chose her, and left me. His best friend of 7 years.
"Oh, so since she broke up with you or whatever, you're gonna come back to me and think everything's okay between us?" I asked, and he looked up. He crossed his arms, and looked up at me again. His nose was red, and so were his cheeks. I could tell he was freezing outside, but I didn't really want to let him in.
"No." He croaked, and I saw his blue eyes fill up with tears. "I just want you to hold me and make me feel better like you used to." He said, and a tear slipped out of his eye.
"Yeah, well I wanted you to do the same to me the entire two months you were gone, but you never came around. What makes you think you can just come back after you picked somebody else over me?" I asked.
"I didn't want to pick her over you, but you were always with your boyfriend, and I felt lonely whenever you talked about him. I just wanted somebody to love me the way you loved Ashton. I wanted to know what it was like." He cried, and I saw him visibly shivering.
"Luke. You should've just waited for the right girl." I sighed, and he shook his head, looking down.
"I couldn't wait because the right girl already had a boyfriend. The right girl always laid down with me, and ran her hands through my hair and had no idea what she was doing to me. She didn't realize that I was in love with her. She didn't know that the only reason I wouldn't hang out with her and her boyfriend was because I couldn't help but wish that I was him. She didn't know a damn thing." He cried, and I looked at him.
"Luke I didn't know you felt that way." I whispered.
"You didn't know anything. I just wanted to know what it was like to have somebody who loved me like that, but it blew up in my face today." He said, and I grabbed his hand, pulling him in.
His hands were shaking, so I brought him into my room. I pulled a pair of his sweatpants out of the drawer of clothes he had here that I could never get rid of. He changed quickly, and then put a sweater of his on.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I never told you what I felt towards you." He whispered, and I pressed my lips to the corner of his mouth. "As soon as you asked her out, Ashton broke up with me. I've always loved you more than a friend should, but I never thought you would return the feelings." I said, and he laid his forehead on mine.
"I love you so much." He whispered, and kissed my cheek.
"I love you too." I said back quietly, pressing a soft kiss onto his lips.
