it's hard to not notice Masato Kai when he shone brighter than any star in the universe. he was one of the most intelligent students in their grade, captain of the volleyball team, and certified kind boy that helps and shares with everyone.

"what's wrong, Y/Nnie?" your friend, Ruri asked, tilting her head when she noticed the sad frown on your face.

"it's nothing, Riri," you waved it off, not wanting to be teased or bothered.

"it looks like it's bothering you though," Ruri said softly, "you can tell me, I'll understand you."

"I like someone," you confessed, "but I don't think he knows about my presence."

"give it some time," Ruri advised, an understanding smile spreading through her face, "don't act fake nor try to get his attention. if fate lets him to notice you, then you are truly meant to be together."

"alright," you smiled, knowing that the girl was right.

"um...I'm sorry, may I ask can I borrow a pencil?" a voice right next to you asked.

turning your head, you realized in dismay that it was Kai.

has he been next to you all along???

"I--of course," you stuttered a bit as your hand dug into your pencil case, finding a pencil and handing it to the male.

"thank you," Kai smiled.

you swore you could go blind by how bright his beam was.

"you're welcome," you smiled back as your attention was turned back to the front of the classroom where Mrs. Nakamura was talking.

and your prayers were answered when at the end of class, when Kai came up to you with the pencil in his hand.

"thank you so much, Y/N," Kai smiled warmly, "for the pencil."

"it's nothing," you waved it off nonchalantly, but your heart was threatening to burst out of your chest.

"I--um...I better head off now," Kai waved at you quickly, but you could notice that his cheeks were flustered.

was he alright?

"stop being a coward and confess to her," Takahashi Keihan, Kai's best friend, urged to the male, who was staring at the ground blankly.

"what if she says no? we've only talked like once when I asked to borrow a pencil?" Kai said doubtfully.

"fucker, you had a pencil," Keihan scoffed, chuckling, "the lengths you'll go to interact with your crush. she likes you, dumbo."

"but what if she says--"

"she won't," Keihan finished, "this conversation is over and you better man up and confess. time does not tick slowly, you know???"

imagine your surprise when that tall male came up to you one day and confessed his feelings for you.

because that's what happened.

"I like you."

your mouth was open wide open, just like your eyes.

"the fuck?"

"it's alright if you don't like me and---" Kai started to ramble nonsense and fumble over his own words, afraid of rejection.

"no no no!" you waved both of your hands quickly in denial, "I like you, Kai, I just didn't expect you to like me."

and then it was his turn to gasp softly, his eyes widen at your response.

"what!???"

"I've always liked you," you confessed, "ever since you moved to this school. I was just never brave enough to tell you."

"may I have the chance to court you then?" Kai looked hopefully down into your beautiful eyes, his own holding the utmost sincerity and hope in them.

"of course," you smiled softly as you leaned up to kiss Kai on the cheek.
