Childhood best friends

"Ran!" Y/N exclaimed.

"Y/N!" Ran smiled as he went to hug the shorter girl.

"You look cute today, like a teddy bear!" Y/N said as she looked at Ran's outfit.

He pouted as he tickled Y/N, "stop it! I'm not cute!"

"Sure you aren't!" Y/N teased as she giggled before escaping Ran's grip.

"Still think I'm cute?" Ran asked when they were a few years older.

"Duh, you look like an adorable puppy right now!" Y/N said as Ran pouted again.

"OI! YOU TWO! Stop flirting with your girlfriend, Ran! We need to practice!" Captain Hikaru hollered at Ran as the latter blushed.

"We're not dating, Captain Hikaru!" Y/N yelled back as she pushed Ran into the gym before saying goodbye.

"Ran, stop being a pussy and ask out Y/N," Yuji lectured at his friend.

"I can't, she probably doesn't see me that way. Besides, I'm too cute in her eyes," Ran said sadly.

"Grow up and be a man, you clearly need it, Ran-kun," Captain Yuki advised.

"But--but.." Ran said doubtfully.

"Stop doubting yourself, Ran! I'm sure Y/N-san would not hurt you; you two were friends since young," Tatsunori assured.

"I'm scared," Ran admitted.

"Fake it till you make it," Yuji said as he patted Ran's back.

And so, Ran took it upon himself to improve and impress.

"Ran? What the fuck happened to you?" Y/N asked surprised as Ran came to meet her in pretty formal clothes.

 "Do I look cute to you anymore?" Ran asked darkly.

Y/N raised her eyebrows, "Definitely, your face is cute even if you dress nice."

"This is no time for games, Y/N L/N," Ran said as he raised Y/N's chin to match her eyes with his eyes.

Y/N could feel Ran's intense gaze on her but she did not blush.

"What happened to you these two weeks?" Y/N asked.

"Stop avoiding my question, Y/N! Am I that cute?" Ran asked persistantly.

Y/N bursted out laughing, "Ran, of course you are! No matter how hot and handsome you look, I know that you'll always be a cute bunny!"

"Did you just call me hot and handsome?" Ran smirked as he raised his eyebrow.

"I'm an honest woman," Y/N shrugged, trying to hide her red cheeks.

"You're adorable," Ran chuckled.

"Oi! This situation is not getting flip-flopped!" Y/N said.

Ran smiled before he put his arm around Y/N's waist, "let's go to our favorite restaurant."

"Let's go!" Y/N smiled.

"Ran, LOOK THERE'S MBAPPE!" Y/N gasped when they were at the register to pay.

Ran immediately turned his head over in shock but when he saw nothing, he looked back at Y/N, who smirked proudly at him with a receipt.

"Oh you naughty girl!" Ran pouted as he grabbed Y/N's hand.

"I couldn't let you pay for our whole meal," Y/N said as they walked towards the park.

Ran could only make a sad face as he bravely said, "I like you, Y/N. I've always had, and it's okay if you don't like me that—"

Y/N interrupted Ran as she grabbed his cheeks and kissed him.

When the two pulled apart, Ran asked hesitantly with red cheeks, "is that a yes?"

"Dumbo cutie, why would I kiss you if I didn't like you?" Y/N giggled as Ran pulled them into a kiss once more.
