"it's really illegal to look that pretty," Kai muttered under his breath as he watched you walk by, chatting happily with your friends, "how can she be that pretty?"

you were one of the popular kids in the grade (wish that could be, ngl, but then I'd be like, too much pressure and give up), excelling not only in sports, but in school as well. around the campus, you were known for your kindness and generosity as well.

"you fine, Kai???" his best friend, Takahashi Keihan, asked, worry laced in his voice as he noticed that Kai was zoned out, yet flustered.

"yeah, Kei," Kai smiled, waving his hand lightly, assuring that he was alright.

not wanting to intrude into his friend's thoughts more than he should, Keihan left Kai alone to go to the library to find a book.

"Kai, you are not doing so well in Maths," Sensei Watanabe looked at him with concern and worry, "we should find a tutor for you."

"but I'm fine--it's alright---" Kai spluttered, but the teacher showed him his report card. there were a couple of C's and D's, while on a rare occasion, there were B's.

"you need some more help," Sensei Watanabe said softly, "I'll ask my best student to help you."

and you came into the room, like an angel descending from heaven.

Kai could feel his heart skip a beat and his cheeks redden when his eyes met yours.

"konnichiwa, my name is L/N Y/N," you introduced politely, bowing, "I'll help you with your Maths from now on."

"arigato gozaimasu," Kai bowed lower, with a grateful and happy smile on his face.

Sensei Watanabe looked like she was third-wheeling the whole situation, "I'll trust you to help Kai."

"hai, Sensei Watanabe!" you replied, determined to not let your teacher down.

and so, that evening after school, you went to Kai's place. he lived in a medium sized white house near a 7 ELEVEN. it had all of the vibes there. with a couple of short trees, a beautiful front garden filled with colorful tulips, and a beautiful swing in the front.

nervously, you rang the doorbell--emitting a soft ding, not knowing who to expect at the door.

when the door opened, a kind-looking woman greeted you, "oh!! konnichiwa! you must be L/N Y/N, right? the generous girl here to tutor Kai?"

"yes, ma'am," you bowed politely.

"I'm Mrs. Masato, Kai's mother, thank you so much for offering to help my son," Mrs. Masato smile widely, "come in, I just made some snacks for you and Kai to have. KAI! YOUR TUTOR IS HERE!"

foot steps could be heard thundering down the stairs as Kai's tall figure appeared next to his short mother.

"konnichiwa, Y/N, thank you so much," Kai bowed, smiling.

you could tell where Kai inherited his smile and happy personality from.

"you two can go study in the living room, I'll be in the kitchen making food," Mrs. Masato said.

"arigato, Masato-san," you thanked again before heading to the living room with Kai.

"see, you're getting it," you smiled softly before complimenting the boy, "you're quick at learning anything."

"thanks," Kai smiled, "it's all thanks to you though."

"no no no," you denied, "I've tutored some students who need me to explain the concepts at least a couple of times before they get it. you did it in just one."

Kai's face couldn't possibly be redder now as you gazed into his eyes, oblivious to what your actions were doing to him.

"are you alright?" you looked at him with concern, "why are you so red?"

"it's---it's just hot in here," Kai spluttered adorably, shaking his head and assuring that he was fine.

"do you want me to go ask Masato-san to turn on the air conditioning?" you asked kindly.

"it's fine," Kai regained his composure, pointing to the one problem that got him stuck, "now can you teach me these types of problems?"

you replied, "of course."

with your help, Kai's grades slowly went up, and Sensei Watanabe couldn't be more proud.

"an A this time, Kai, nice work," the teacher handed the tall male his recent test, a big A circled in red on the paper.

"arigato gozaimasu," Kai smiled proudly, knowing that it was all thanks to you that he was doing so well.

not only did his grades go up, his relationship with you flourished.

the two of you would go to the convenience store, malls, and nearby parks to hang out and have fun after a hectic week.

"konbini?" Kai offered when he saw you entering the classroom.

"definitely," you replied, beaming, "you better get me my favorite strawberry milk though."

"how can I ever forget?" Kai drawled dramatically.

few hours later, the both of you came out of the convenience store with an ice cream and milk in hand.

licking his sour grape popsicle, Kai took a deep breath before confessing, "I really like you, Y/N."

you laughed before replying with a simple, "I know."

"h-hhhoww?" Kai spluttered, his cheeks flustered red.

"you are always red in the face when we're together, just like right now," you pointed out the truth, "you are never like that with anyone else."

"sometimes, I hate how smart you can be," Kai grumbled.

"well I like you too, idiot," you leaned up to ruffle his hair, messing it up.

"not my hair!" Kai exclaimed dramatically.

"you are so adorable," you complimented, chuckling.

pouting, Kai smiled like a little kid, "at least you like me. it would be embarrassing if you didn't."

"who wouldn't like you, Kai?" you asked softly, "you're so kind, nice, honest, and adorable."

"I can say the same to you," Kai grinned as he leaned down to kiss you on the cheek, "thank you for accepting me."
