Jeongin's POV:-

Felix’s voice broke the quiet of the night, his announcement cutting through the silence. “We’ll be heading inside now, everyone,” he said, his gaze scanning the group for confirmation. I turned slowly, my eyes falling on the figure beside me. He was lying back, his doe-like eyes fixed on the sky, lost in the expanse of stars.

Time seemed to slip away unnoticed as the others gradually stood up and made their way inside. I barely registered Seungmin’s voice as he asked, “Are you coming?” Since he was my roommate, his question was more of a routine check than a real invitation. I shook my head, murmuring, “After a few minutes.” He gave a nod and headed off.

I sighed.

I stood up, wrapping my starry blue blanket tightly around myself as I made my way to the bench in the garden. The unexpected chill in the air made the blanket feel like a lifeline, its warmth a small comfort against the cold. Settling onto the bench, I drew the blanket closer, trying to ward off the cold that seemed to seep into my bones.

The garden was quiet, the soft rustling of leaves the only sound accompanying my thoughts. Just as I began to lose myself in the calm of the night, a voice broke through the stillness. “Hey,” it said softly, and my heart skipped a beat.

I turned to see Chan Hyung standing there, his silhouette framed by the soft glow of the garden lights. There was something incredibly reassuring about his presence, as if the night itself became better better because he was here.

“Hey,” I managed to reply, my voice slightly uneven as I tried to keep my emotions in check. Chan’s gaze softened as he took in the scene, his concern evident. “It’s pretty cold out here. Can  I join you?” he asked, his voice carrying a warmth that contrasted with the night’s chill.

I nodded, trying to hide the excitement bubbling up inside me. “Of course,” I said, shifting to make room on the bench. Chan sat down beside me, his own blanket wrapped around his shoulders, and for a moment, the garden felt warmer, as if his presence alone could chase away the cold.

For a few moments, we sat in silence, the peacefulness of the garden enveloping us.

“So, what are you doing out here all alone?” Chan asked, breaking the silence with a casual tone. His voice was gentle, making me feel like he was genuinely interested in my answer.

I shrugged slightly, trying to keep my response nonchalant. “Nothing, we’re leaving tomorrow and I’m pretty sure I’ll miss this garden so I decided to sit here for a little bit longer,” I said, my gaze fixed on the sky. I didn’t want to meet his eyes; I was afraid that if I did, he might see right through me.

Chan’s eyes followed mine to the sky, and for a moment, there was a shared silence as we both took in the night. “Yeah,” he said softly, “this place does have a way of growing on you. It’s easy to get attached to the little things.”

The way he spoke made me feel like he understood more than I had said, as if he could sense the deeper thoughts behind my casual words.

“It’s funny how certain places or moments can become so meaningful,” Chan continued, breaking the silence with a thoughtful smile. “It’s like they leave a mark on you, even if you don’t realize it until you’re about to leave.”

I nodded, “Yeah, exactly. I didn’t think I’d feel this way, but now that it’s almost time to go, it’s like I’m realizing how much I’ve grown attached to this place in just two days.”

Chan turned to face me, his expression open and understanding. “I know what you mean. It’s moments like these that make you appreciate the time you’ve had. Even if it’s just a garden, it’s the memories we make that count.”
