Harumi was just on the phone with Raven, when Cole came into her room.
"We need your help!"
-
Turns out Mei called him about building some portal and sent him the blueprints, but he didn't know where to start.
"Why won't you ask Zane?" She tilted her head a bit in a questioning manner.
"I did. But it's gonna be easier to build it if you join us."
-
The portal turned out to be 5 meters wide and 6 meters tall. It wasn't a complicated construction. Basically a rectangle made out of scrap.
It had to have silver lining on the inside but it wasn't really a problem.
Finding a power source was.
"But your heart may literally explode! You would die!" Cole was yelling frantically at Zane.
The nindroid sighed and took on a determined expression. "I am willing to take this risk."
"But I am not!" Cole's words took the ice ninja by surprise and caused a wave of unspoken, tangled emotion to cross his face.
"Okay." Zane sighed, this time in defeat. "We will search for another power source. But after 24 hours I am going to power it myself."
-
The first thing Cole did after this conversation was calling mr. Borg. If anyone knows anything about electrical power supplies it has got to be him.
"Well... Zane only has half of his original power source so even despite it theoretically creating an unlimited amount of electricity it would still have more power if you managed to find the other half.
If not I would advise you to find the nearest powerplant." Okay, a powerplant was out of question since hooking a portal to it would easily rid everyone in the city of electricity.
It could serve as a 'last resort' option though.
"Hey, Zane, who did you give half of your heart to?" Cole made it sound so casual, like it was nothing.
And Zane treated it as such "Pixal."
-
Great! Now the only way Zane is not going to die is if a literal assassin and serial killer decides to help them.
That is if she even has the half after all this time.
He took a deep, long breath in. Maybe a bit too long, since his lungs quickly started to hurt.
He breathed out and opened the door. "I need your help."
-
"For the record, I still don't trust them." Cole said. He just asked Harumi if she could contact Raven to help them out.
She wasn't sure if they would agree to this, but it was worth asking.
And so she picked a number to her newest friend and waited until he would pick up.
"Oh, hey Raven!" She began as soon as she heard a click, indicating that someone picked up. "Could you maybe come over? We really need your help."
"Okay, great! We're waiting then!" She shouted happily when she heard the soft "mh-hm" as a response to the question.
-
"So! This is the portal! It's meant to bring our friends back, but we have a bit of a problem with powering it. Zane could do it, but he will explode if he tries!" Harumi started showing Raven the portal, standing on the courtyard in front of the monastery.
It was crafted from the worst sort of parts he's ever seen. Although it didn't fail to amaze still.
It was lined with silver from the inside and they wondered if that was the part needed to open the portal.
"Unless he has the second half of his heart..." Rumi's normal cheerful, loud voice now was a bit dimmed, sadder and shyer, but the message it carried was understood loud and clear. They wanted her to share her power source's energy.
"Okay." They gave a response, ignoring how Rumi's face lit up in happiness and surprise.
-
A few minutes passed and Raven was sitting on a chair next to Zane, both hooked up to the portal.
"Okay, this part might hurt." Cole warned them and pressed a button. Immediately Raven could feel their human disguise falling, electricity coursing throught her body as if being sucked out by the cord into the portal.
She hissed out in pain, but it looked like Zane got it worse. He was yelling uncontrollably, like he was being actively tortured in the most inhuman way possible (probably the brazen bull).
But the portal started forming, a yellow and white vortex quickly stabilizing. After a few seconds six people walked out of it and Harumi plugged out the machine, freeing Zane and Raven.
A loud "Is that Pixal?!" reached their ears, as he stood up, dusting his outfit off.
"Yes." She responded, turning on human disguise. "And no. I go by Raven now. He/She/They, prefer the latter two." He recited the usual introduction and bowed their head lightly.
"Aaand she's ghost." Harumi piped up, stretching out the letter 'a' uncomfortably. "Please don't arrest them, they're my friend." She begged Sky, who just smiled in response.
"So, ghost was accidentally killed during a police intervention." She said, confidently. "Honestly, the police in this city is comparable to a circus, so I don't expect them to need much besides a falsified report. They shouldn't investigate."
That was... Good news. And explained why they never caught her.
"And from other news." Mei chimed in. "We have a new resident at the Temple, so some of you will have to permanently take your rooms at the Monastery." The kid who came here with them didn't react, but the red, blue and green ninja started whining a bit. The rest just nodded in agreement.
This 'family' of theirs was interesting, that's what Raven could say. They would be thrilled to find out more.
