Chapter 54 - Is It Possible?

Leo hoped he was going the right way.

Every single corridor looked the same. At least at first. Then he saw that they actually varied depending on the number and placement of eyes on the walls.

Okay, it wasn't useful information.

But then he saw the light. No, not in that way. He literally saw a faint glow at the end of the corridor.

Leo walked out into a bigger space with a giant window on the wall. Outside was New York, burning. His hometown-

Someone was watching him.

Turning, he saw kraang 1 in some kind of weird mech suit, sitting on a throne. Or maybe the captain's chair? Who knows.

"Surprise. I've come for my brother. And the girl." Leo demanded, trying to maintain his composure.

Kraang 1 laughed. "Go ahead." He gestured for Raph, who was standing beside his weird throne thing.

Leo's older brother took a step, and then another and another. And he realized something. With every step Raph made, the anxiety within him was growing. There was no time in his life when Leo was afraid of the huge softie Raph was, so why was his brain freaking out now?

Was it because there was not even a glint of hesitation in the giant turtle's eyes, while he was power walking towards Leo, probably to beat his ass? Was it because he roared? Or was it because after taking five steps he lunged at Leo, teeth first?

He dodged, of course he did.

Redying his katanas he asked himself if he was really gonna hurt his big brother? Was he even able to?

Raph lunged again, this time aiming to strike with the sai-like claws that formed on his hand.

But Leo was too slow to block this attack.

"Raph, I know you're in there somewhere!" He shouted, hoping to reach his real brother, oblivious to the fact something was mimicking him.

Another attack, barely dodged. He has to do something, quick.

That's when he saw her, crawling down a wall towards kraang 1. She said something to him, something Leo couldn't hear.

And then the floor suddenly opened.

Fortunately they were standing on a platform above.

Mikey and Donnie were violently brought up by strange, new, black goop and thrown onto the ground.

Leo was too focused on them to see his oldest brother.

And that was enough for Raph to catch him, the kraang goop tentacle constricting around his neck while lifting him up into the air.

He saw pb&j duo scrambling to their feet, running towards him with horrified expressions. They wanted to help him.

And he did need the help. He was silently thanking Draxum for making him a turtle, because if he weren't, he'd already be suffocating. This was exhausting.

And then Mikey and Donnie were struck down by something resembling a giant snake.

"No!" He tried to shout but it was hard without air.

He didn't want to fight anymore. He didn't want to be responsible for his siblings. He didn't want them to get hurt because of him.

"I don't wanna fight anymore." He said, out of breath.

"I was fighting you, because I didn't understand you." Breathing became harder and harder with every word.

But now he finally gets it.
