Orion knew he was a good liar; it isn't something he boasts about, but it came in handy plenty of times. This was not one of those times. When Charlie asked the boy where Bella was, he completely froze, his mind going blank. It had only been an hour since her departure, and he was back at his home.
He did the one thing he told Bella he wasn't going to do. "She left with Alice." The words left his mouth quicker than he could stop them. He mentally curses himself, his eyes closing shut as he lets out a sigh. Why did he say that?
The look of pure shock that painted Charlie and Lucia's faces sent shivers down his spine. "The Cullen's are back?" The two gasped, getting up from the couch and making their way over to the boy in the kitchen.
He tries his best to act like it isn't a big deal. "No," he begins. "It's just Alice." He had to come up with some sort of excuse quickly. "She came back to check up on us. She felt bad for leaving and offered to take us on a trip to make it up." The excuse was flawed heavily; he just hoped none of them would further press it.
The two adults stared at Orion in complete and utter shock. "I can't believe she left without saying anything." Charlie muttered to himself, anxiously pulling his phone out and heading outside the door. Rye could only assume he was going to call the girl and give her an earful.
His mother stayed in the kitchen with him. She makes her way closer to him, standing on the opposite side of him as she stares him down. "If it was a trip for the three of you, what are you still doing here?" She quizzed, her suspicion rising.
Her question made him anxious. He keeps his hands stuck to his sides, resisting the urge to fidget with them. He did not want to further her suspicion. "I wanted to, but I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to handle it." His hand moves down to lightly graze his stomach.
His mother knew what he was alluding to, and she dropped it, her face softening. Orion knew it was wrong to continue lying to her, but she can't know the real reasons-not yet. Though the uncertainty in her eye continued to linger.
Charlie came in shortly after, murmuring in disappointment toward himself. He couldn't believe his daughter had left under his watch. Lucia went to comfort him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
Orion watched as his mother told the man it wasn't his fault. Charlie nodded along to her words, a red hue appearing across his cheeks.
Rye let a small smile crack as he observed them. Seeing as the two adults were distracted, Orion took the chance and walked right past them, up to his room. He shuts the door quietly, exhaling and walking sluggishly toward his bed.
He kicks off his shoes, stripping himself of his sweater. Falling onto the bed with a heavy sigh. He stares at the ceiling, thinking of every single possibility that would be to come once Bella comes back.
If she comes back with Edward, there is no denying that they will get back together. If that happens, that means the Cullens will have to come back. Permanently.
A groan pushes past his lips. It was all too much to think about. Stomach churning, Orion shoots from his bed quickly, standing on his two feet, using the side table for support.
He could feel something bubbling up in his stomach. He places a hand against his abdomen, messaging heavily into it. Which only made it worse.
