Two Days Ago...

Y/N was sketching when Freya set down a fresh set of blueprints on his desk.

"Here we go," she rubbed her neck after hours of laborious work. "It might not be as good as what you would've done, but hopefully, it's enough."

He set aside his current project and focused on her blueprints. "Hmm..."

He began to analyze them, "Oh...yes...I see... good...very good."

Freya felt satisfied with his approval. "I asked Commander Zoe for a bit of help. Explosives aren't exactly my specialty, so..."

Y/N's expression turned wistful and distant. "Müller?"

"You're a brilliant woman," he said softly.

Freya's face heated. "So are you—a brilliant man, I mean, not a woman..."

He chuckled, "We make a good team."

"Indeed we do," she agreed.

He stared at his desk for a moment, "Which is why you deserve to know what I plan to do with this... what I asked for... a blueprint for explosives..."

He sighed deeply. "Sit, please."

Freya surprised him by hopping up onto his desk and sitting next to him as he remained in his chair.

"Let's... say I intend to make an explosive out of these blueprints strong enough to kill the Colossal and Armored Titans."

She looked at him. "But this isn't... powerful enough for that."

Y/N swallowed hard looking down with a sad expression. "That's because it isn't. This is meant for Reiner and Bertholdt... if they do turn out to be Titans and can't be reasoned with..."

She gasped. "You're... killing them?"

He sighed. "I thought you told me sometimes we must do what is necessary, even if... it's difficult."

"I know, but... I didn't expect you to change your mind so quickly."

He sighed again.

Freya adjusted her position slightly, her knee brushing against his leg. But both of them pretended not to notice.

Y/N shifted uncomfortably glancing at her. Freya's blouse was slightly unbuttoned at the top and revealed the delicate curve of her collarbone. She wore a fitted military jacket over it. Her trousers hugged her legs just enough to hint at her feminine shape beneath the utilitarian clothing.

Y/N wore a standard-issue shirt, sleeves rolled up to his elbows revealing his muscled forearms. His fingers traced the edges of the blueprint as he spoke.

Freya leaned in closer as she examined the blueprints again. "So... how do you plan to make this work?" she asked.

"It's designed to be a last resort. If negotiations fail, if reasoning with them is impossible... this is the backup plan."

Freya reached out placing a hand on his shoulder. "... You know this could mean your life too, right?"

He met her gaze. "Yes. But if it means saving countless others... it's worth it."

"Just... promise me you'll be careful. We need you. I need you."

Y/N nodded with a small sad smile. "I promise, Freya."

"And don't do anything reckless," she whispered.

"I won't," he replied, though they both knew the danger was inevitable.
