The aftermath of the explosion left a small crater, a jagged scar in the earth, about two meters wide and half as deep.

The edges were scorched black and the surrounding grass had been burned away, leaving only charred soil. Pieces of Y/N were scattered across the ground as if a sadistic child had torn apart a rag doll and thrown the pieces without care.

His torso, or what was left of it lay in the center of the crater. His spine was bent and shattered, and his upper body was barely holding together. Charred intestines spilled out from where his lower abdomen had been blackened and cracked, looking more like burnt ropes than human organs. The skin around the exposed guts was blistered and peeling revealing layers of tissue that had been seared away in the blast.

The right side of his uniform was completely gone, vaporized by the force of the explosion. What remained clung to his body in singed shredded strips. His left arm still partially intact lay a few meters away, fingers curled as if trying to grasp something. The hand was burnt to a crisp, fingers fused together in a blackened mass. His right arm was nowhere to be seen due to being blown to pieces and flung far from the site.

His legs were a different story. One of them was blown clean off, lying several meters away, while the other was nothing more than a twisted stump attached to his mangled torso. The charred remnants of what were muscles where now just blackened meat, tendon exposed and caked in dirt. Bits of bone protruded from the stump, sharp and jagged like the shattered end of a snapped tree branch. His left foot had somehow remained attached to the severed leg, though the toes were missing.

His face was the worst of all. The entire right side of his skull was exposed, the flesh blown away, leaving only the bare bone beneath. His eye socket was empty, a hollow, gaping hole where his eye had been. Bits of brain matter clung to the edges, and a small stream of blood trickled from the corner of his exposed skull.

The right side of his jaw was completely obliterated, only a few cracked teeth clinging to the remnants of his upper jaw. His identifiable features were now covered in charred and blistered skin on the left side of his face.

He was surrounded by a suffocating silence, devoid of any birds, insects, or anything but the gentle breeze blowing through the grass.

The only sounds were the soft scurrying of tiny creatures, drawn to the remains of Y/N's body. A few crows had gathered, pecking at the bits of flesh and bone that were scattered across the ground. They cawed occasionally.

A beetle crawled across what was left of Y/N's face, its tiny legs skittering over the exposed bone. It made its way to the empty eye socket, disappearing inside as it sought out a new home in the hollowed-out cavity. A spider followed spinning a web as it settled into the shelter.

One of the crows hopped closer, eyeing the remains of Y/N's torso with interest. It pecked at the exposed spine, pulling away a small piece of flesh before taking off, leaving a small trail of blood in its trail. The other crows followed suit, descending on the scattered body parts tearing into the charred remains with vicious speed.

As the light faded, the crows grew bolder as they fought over the best pieces of meat. The beetle emerged from the eye socket, crawling over the exposed skull before disappearing into the hollowed-out nose cavity. The spider continued to spin its web, undisturbed by the surrounding commotion.

The wind died down as if the world itself was holding its breath, waiting for something to happen.

But nothing did.
