Today, I'm sitting on the floor of our cozy living room, surrounded by toys, helped along by our little hurricane named Mia. She's just two years old, my first baby girl, full of energy, curiosity, and an abundance of love, especially after we welcomed her baby brother and sister—Charlie and Chandler, just a week ago.
Mia plops down beside me, her golden hair bouncing as she leans in to poke her new siblings gently. "Chandy! Charwie!" she chirps, a giggle escaping her lips as their tiny hands reach out. "Baby!"
I can't help but smile, knowing how much she loves being a big sister. "Do you want to help me take care of them, sweet pea?" I ask her, stroking her hair.
"Yeah! I help! I big sister!" she squeals, puffing out her chest in pride. Her green eyes, just like Adrien's, sparkle with excitement.
As I prepare to change Chandler's diaper, Mia eagerly grabs a diaper and hands it to me. "Here, mommy! Chandy need new diaper!"
"Good girl, Mia! You're such a good helper!" I praise her, and she beams at me, her entire face lighting up.
A sudden thought hits her, and she tilts her head as if she's just figured out the secrets of the universe. "Mommy, I need phone!"
I raise an eyebrow, intrigued but cautious. "Why do you need a phone, Mia?"
"To post pichas of Chandy and Charwie on social medwia!" she proclaims, her baby talk melting my heart. "Wanna show friends! Like Daddy!"
A chuckle escapes my lips. "Oh, sweetie, social media isn't for toddlers, but I promise we'll take lots of pictures!"
"Yay!" she squeals, darting over to the pile of soft toys and pulling out a stuffed bunny. "Bunny take pichas! Bunny good helper!"
I watch her, bursts of laughter bubbling up at her pure imagination, when Adrien strolls into the living room.
"Hey, love!" he says, bending down to plant a kiss on my cheek. Mia's eyes narrow in playful suspicion as she watches him.
"Oh, yuck!" she exclaims, scrunching her nose. "Daddy kiss mommy! Eww!"
Adrien laughs and ruffles her hair. "Don't worry, munchkin! It's just a kiss. Nothing for a big girl like you to worry about."
Mia crosses her arms dramatically, imitating a tiny adult. "I keep my eyes on you, Daddy! No more kissing mommy! Eyes open!"
"Alright, alright! Eyes wide open," he teases back with an exaggerated wink.
"Good!" Mia responds, satisfied. She then gets up and runs to peek at her little siblings. "Chandy and Charwie! Stay safe! Mommy and Daddy help!"
Adrien and I exchange a grateful glance; she is so earnest about her new role.
"Speaking of helping," Adrien starts, leaning against the wall, "I need to know how to take care of these two while you're at work this week. Any tips?"
I chuckle, recalling all the beautiful chaos we've embraced since becoming parents. "Just follow Mia's lead. She's the boss now."
"More like I'm her assistant," he jokes, but there's truth in it too.
"You do great, Daddy!" Mia pipes up, hugging her stuffed bunny tightly.
"Thanks, Mia. I'll do my best!" Adrien says, glancing at the twins. "Maybe their first photoshoot should be with some wild poses, just like their big sister!"
"Yeah!" Mia jumps, losing her bunny for a moment. "I make silly face! Like this!" She squishes her cheeks with her tiny hands, crossing her eyes, causing Adrien and me to burst into laughter.
"Oh, that's not silly!" I grin. "That's adorable!"
Suddenly, Mia's focus shifts again, and she dashes into the other room. The next moment, she reappears holding her drawing pad and crayons. "Draw pichas now! Of Chandy and Charwie!"
"That's a fantastic idea," I encourage, clapping my hands. "You could draw a family picture! Everyone can pose later!"
"Okay, okay!" she says enthusiastically, plopping down cross-legged on the carpet.
Adrien and I take a moment to soak it all in. Our life is filled with laughter, camaraderie, and yes, the occasional chaotic mess that seems to accompany parenthood. The twins sleep peacefully in their bassinet, while Mia gets creative, and my heart swells.
I can't believe how quickly the time has flown. Just a couple of years ago, I was anxiously waiting to meet our little Mia, and now here we are, navigating this beautiful journey with our growing family.
"Should I grab my phone and take a quick snap for our memories?" Adrien asks, already reaching out for his device.
"Definitely! Capture all the cuteness!" I say, and he quickly gets his phone.
"Okay, Mia, say cheese!"
"Cheeeese!" she replies, her face lighting up with the biggest grin, leaving no doubt she's her father's daughter.
As Adrien snaps pictures of our little family, I can't help but think about how special this moment is. Nothing can replace the happiness we all feel here, today. Strong bonds are being formed, memories are made, and, of course, lots of love surrounds us.
"Alright, let's keep this fun going!" I say excitedly.
And so, our day unfolds, with laughter, little adventures, and my little helpers guiding the way. I know these moments will be the treasures I hold in my heart forever.
