It's been an unforgettable week in our household ever since Charlie and Chandler arrived. I can hardly believe that just seven days ago, our family of three expanded into a family of five. I'm Y/N Agreste, and through all the chaos and excitement, one thing is crystal clear: my two-year-old daughter, Mia, is absolutely smitten with her new role as the big sister.
As I sit here in our cozy living room, I can hear Mia in the nursery, her voice filled with delight. "Chandy! Charwie! Look!" She's excitedly showing them, well, I'm not entirely sure what, but the shrieks of giggles resonate around the house.
"Mia, honey, what are you doing?" I call out, chuckling to myself at her enthusiasm.
"Mommy! I show!" Mia replies, her voice barely above a whisper, but she's clearly over the moon. The way she's taken to her baby siblings is nothing short of heartwarming.
I hear a soft coo from Chandler, and immediately, Mia responds, "Chandy happy! She like it!"
I can't help but smile. "What about Charlie? Is he happy too?"
"Yeah!" she squeals, her laughter infectious. "Charwie big boy!"
"Is he a big boy already?" I raise an eyebrow, knowing he's only a week old.
"Yup!" Mia insists, nodding vigorously, her blond curls bouncing with every movement. "Me help! Me big sissy!"
"Of course you are, sweetheart," I say, feeling a swell of pride. At just two, she's embracing this transition with more grace than I sometimes feel.
Mia waddles back into the living room, beaming from ear to ear. "Mommy, I want phone! I post pictures of Chandy and Charwie on sociaw medwia!"
I let out a small laugh. "A phone, huh? What would you post?"
"Pretty pictures!" she declares, spreading her arms wide as if picturing all the beautiful moments we've had since the twins arrived.
"Like what?" I prompt, a playful glint in my eye.
"Pictures of them—smile! Chandy smile!" she says, her little hands mimicking a snap, and honestly, how could I deny her budding creativity?
"Okay, Miss Photographer," I reply, pretending to be serious. "What else would you post?"
"Baby feet!" she shouts out with glee. "Sock. Cute!"
"Sounds adorable. You might need to stick to using mommy's phone for now. But we can take lots of pictures together, alright?"
Her eyes widen as if she's just been given the greatest news ever. "Yay! Me take picshures!" She hops up and down, her little feet barely able to keep up with her excitement.
I chuckle, glancing towards the nursery where the twins lie peacefully. "And what about when they cry? Are you gonna help mommy then too?"
Mia's expression turns serious for a split second. "Mommy, I help! I hug!"
"Yes, you're a great helper," I encourage her. "You can be the best big sister, but even big sisters need to take a break and have fun sometimes."
"Mia fun! I play!" she declares, already darting off into the living room to grab her toys.
Before I know it, she's back, her tiny arms full of stuffed animals. "Chandy and Charwie come play!" she announces, organizing them into a semi-circle on the floor.
I watch in awe as she sets the stage for a truly unique playtime. "What game are we playing, Mimi?" I ask, eager to join in on her imaginative world.
"Baby game! We make noise!" she explains, her eyes twinkling with creativity. Suddenly, she starts making silly sounds, a mash-up of animal noises and cartoonish phrases. "Roar! Meow! Beep beep!"
I can't help but join in, roaring like a lion. "RRRROAR! Watch out, Mia!"
She giggles uncontrollably, her laughter echoing off the walls. "Mommy funny!" she squeals, and just when I think it can't get any better, she turns serious again. "Charwie sleep."
"Charlie is sleeping, yes," I agree, leaning closer. "We have to be quiet. And what about Chandler? Is she sleeping too?"
Mia nods sagely, then whispers, "Chandy sleep too." And in that moment, she wraps her arms around her plush toys like she's mimicking a gentle hug for her siblings.
"Well, how about we let them rest? We can play a secret game! It can be our secret sister game, just us two!"
"Secret!" she whispers, her eyes darting around as if we're planning a heist.
"Shhh, nobody can know!" I tease, then we both burst into laughter, the sound bouncing around us like precious notes in the air.
Amidst all this sweetness, I can't help but marvel at how much joy Mia brings to our lives. She's got her father's enchanting green eyes and a cascade of light blond hair that frames her cherubic face. Likewise, the twins resemble him too, but right now, it's Mia's time to shine in her big sister role.
"Mommy?" she suddenly says, stopping my train of thought.
"Yes, Mia?"
"Me love Chandy and Charwie. Me love you too!"
My heart melts with her sweet sentiment. "Oh, honey, I love you, too!"
"Big sissy love!" she adds, a proud grin plastered across her little face.
As the day rolls on, I know we have a long journey ahead, with plenty of challenges. But with Mia leading the way as the eldest, I'm confident that laughter, love, and countless adventures await us. And who knows? Maybe in the future, there will be a small photo feed of enchanted moments shared, curated by our most adorable, vibrant little girl—Mia, the big sister with grand dreams of sharing her world.
