The chaos in our living room is escalating, and I can barely keep my eyes open, but I look over at Adrien, who is expertly corralling Mia while trying to tame Charlie and Chandler.
"Why does it feel like herding cats?" I mumble, rubbing my temples.
Mia, with her curly blonde hair bouncing, giggles as she spins in circles. "Look, Mommy! I'm a tornado!"
"Sweetheart, can you be a tornado that helps us pack instead?" I ask, forcing a smile despite the nausea rolling through me again.
Adrien kneels next to Mia, with a twinkle in his green eyes. "How about you and I pack your favorite toys together? That'll make you the mightiest tornado!"
I can't help but laugh as Mia grabs her stuffed unicorn, twirling it like a propeller. "Okay, but can we bring snacks too? I need pretzels!"
"Pretzels? You got it!" Adrien grins and winks at me. "I'll make sure Mommy gets extra, too. Right, Y/n?"
"Extra pretzels for you and my crazy kiddos, yes please," I say, trying to sound chipper, but my stomach lurches again.
Charlie and Chandler, both clutching their favorite blankets, zoom past us in a race towards the door. "I'm faster!" Charlie shouts, while Chandler squeals with delight and matches the pace.
"Wait! Don't open the door!" I call out, but my voice gets lost in their giggles.
Adrien quickly jumps up, "I'll get them!" He chases after them, and within moments, I hear Chandler's delighted shriek as he scoops her up just in time.
"Mama! Help! Charlie's winning!" she giggles, and the sight warms my heart despite the rising queasiness.
"Are you two getting ready for Grandma and Grandpa's?" I call out, forcing myself to stand up from the couch, trying to ignore the wave of nausea that hasn't left me.
"Yeah! Weekend party!" Charlie cheers, his eyes sparkling like he just discovered a treasure.
"More like a weekend survival challenge," I mumble under my breath, but Adrien catches it. He pops back into the room with an arm wrapped around the twins, a soft chuckle escaping his lips.
"We'll survive, Y/n. Together." He leans down to kiss my forehead, and I feel a wave of warmth despite the chaos swirling around us.
"Can you keep Mia entertained while I try to sort these clothes out?" I ask, gesturing to the pile that seems to multiply every time I turn my back.
"You've got it, Supermom!" He turns to Mia, "How about a puppet show, huh? You can be the star."
Mia beams, her excitement evident. "I'm going to be the bestest star ever!"
"Of course you will!" Adrien crouches down, making silly voices with his hands like puppets, and Mia bursts into laughter, imitating him clumsily.
While they're busy, I quietly rummage through the closet for clothes to pack. A wave of nausea hits me again, and I stop to lean against the wall, willing it away. Just then, Charlie and Chandler come over.
"Mommy, are you okay?" Chandler asks, looking up at me with her big, innocent eyes.
"Just a bit tired, sweetheart," I reply, forcing a smile. "But your dad is doing an amazing job."
"'Cause Daddy's a superhero!" Charlie exclaims, puffing out his chest.
"A superhero needs to refuel," I say, remembering my pretzel craving. "Hey, do you think we can find some pretzels to take?"
"Pretzels! Yay!" Chandler jumps in excitement.
Adrien pops his head in from the living room, still being a silly puppet, "Did someone say pretzels? They'll be the treasure of our weekend!"
"Please!" I call out, as I focus back on the pile of clothes. "I just need a few more minutes, and then I can join the fun."
"Time to channel your inner tornado, then!" He turns to the kids. "Let's make sure Mama can have her snacks!"
Mia claps her hands, "Let's be a team! I'll find our best toys!"
With Adrien keeping the kids entertained, I manage to sift through the pile, each article of clothing feeling heavier than the last. Finally, I throw everything together, hoping it's enough for the inevitable chaos that awaits us at his parents' estate.
"Okay, tornadoes, I'm ready!" I declare, a little more energy flooding back in, and I notice Adrien's approving smile while the kids cheer.
"Then let's go grab those pretzels before we unleash this storm!" he replies, and I can't help but laugh, feeling grateful for my very own superhero.
As we all make our way to the door, I realize that while the chaos may be loud and messy, it's also where the most love lives—and it's all ours.
