| FINALS AND CRISES

SUMMER was coming along, finals had arrived and everyone was stressing. This was the time of the year when the Auradon Prep students would cry, stay up late nights, survive on black coffee or energy drinks, and constantly beg Fairy Godmother to leave the library open and let them stay past curfew to study for exams.

To what the Godmother would agree — only because it was education. She would stay at the library to monitor around, but the sleep would win her over as she would slouch in her seat at the front desk and sleep. The headmistress would only survive from 10:00 PM to midnight — the clock now marked 2:00 AM.

But even so, some people would fool around at the library when being on breaks. Some people, meaning Chad Charming, who didn't care much about his grades at the time of studying, but when the deadline would arrive he would have mental crises.

"Chad, I swear if you don't shut up right now I'm going to send the Thugs on you." Elliot hissed with a glare toward Prince Charming, who just wouldn't stop his chatter and bragging while everybody else tried to study.

"Well, then you can go study somewhere else, Rider." Chad used the alias Elliot's father would go by back when he would steal jewels, he expected Elliot to sound offended, but the boy was far from there — too far — he found it cool.

"I'm gonna—" The whispering voice of Cassia interrupted the banter between the two boys, she tried to be quiet to not wake up FG.

"Can you two stop? Or I'm gonna be the one that freezes both of you to the ground." Cassia glared at the two boys, who were now silent, but Chad wasn't that afraid to speak up as he knew Cassia wouldn't do it.

"You wouldn't dare, and he started it." Chad moved his hair with a shake of his head.

"Maybe she won't freeze you, but I will roast you into ashes if you don't shut up." Now this time Mal was the one to speak. She seemed fine from her lack of rest, but mentally? Mentally she was over the line, she wanted to get this over with.

The table was filled with the VKs, Lonnie, Doug, Ben, Jane, Elliot, and Cass. Chad was only lucky enough to tag along because he was sitting at the table next to them, the books and drinks were scattered around the table, and Evie rested her head on the wooden surface as she tried not to cry from the stress.

"You know, I think a spell would be useful only this time. Mal?" Elliot chirped from his book as he lazily rested his cheek on his hand, he was starting to give up, but he couldn't, he just wasn't going to do summer school.

"No, guys, we can do this, there's only one more week of hell." Mal rejected the offer, she had decided to leave all those spells behind her and be more positive that she could accomplish her goals herself and not with magic. "There's no need for spells."

They all agreed going back to their reading, some of them studied math, others history and literature. Cassia was studying chemistry, and she yet needed to memorize some of the chemicals and equations that would be in the final exams. Groans filled the library as the other AKs studied around, some were already sleeping — not being able to keep going — others were looking like zombies.

Chad had moved tables to where a group of girls were gushing over him, the VKs and AKs on the table could only stare at how charming he was being.

All beauty no brains.

"I'm going to kill him." Elliot huffed being annoyed just by the voice of the prince.

"I'll join ya." Jay agreed but was quick to retreat when Mal glanced at him, "—Just joking." The boy shrugged at the look his friend had given him, — they were all just on edge.

"I really hate study night." The whining of the blue-haired girl appeared as she brought her head back from the surface, crossing her hands over her blue pajamas. "I can't believe you guys actually do this every year."

They couldn't either.

Everyone was in their sleeping clothes as they thought it would be more comfortable to study in, having to be in leather and jean fabric wouldn't be comfortable at all to stay up late.

"I think I'm going to go coo-coo from so much coffee." Elliot looked down at the coffee mug — it was empty, this was the boy's fourth coup, going on fifth.

The muttering voice of Chad continued to fill the walls of the library with the few giggles of the girls. Seriously, what could this guy say that could be funny? All he talked about was himself and how awesome he was. That wasn't funny at all.

"Do you think he'll ever find himself a girlfriend?" Carlos asked looking over at the blonde who was still talking to the group of girls, he was probably bribing them into doing his homework like he always does.

"Isn't he still stuck on Audrey?" Lonnie turned her eyes to Carlos, who nodded.

"Can you believe he drove six hours away from here to go fix up her tire?" Carlos scoffed, he was still surprised, but not at the same time.

"Well, at least someone will love the news of her coming back for summer school." Ben suddenly spoke keeping his eyes on his paper — Ah! the king had spoken.

"Wait, she's coming back?" Cassia stood up going over to the table to grab more coffee, her eyebrows being furrowed. She thought Audrey didn't want to come back after the VKs arrived in Auradon, and after, well, Ben got with Mal.

"Yeah, turns out her parents wanted her to." Ben tapped his pencil onto the palm of his hand, all eyes on him.

They weren't sure how to feel about having the princess's presence back in Auradon, it was rude to admit it was rather peaceful without her here. Not having someone criticize something someone would do, or talk about how she could do it better was simply nice.

"Good luck enjoying your freedom, Jane." Elliot looked over at the girl that sat next to Carlos, her ear perking up at the sound.

Cassia realized how close they had gotten ever since Cotillion, the girl figured Carlos had finally told Jane how he felt.

"Hey!" Cassia whispered standing next to Elliot, who looked up at her with his index and middle finger resting on his lips and a pair of raised eyebrows, smirking.

"Sorry." He sang looking down at his textbook.

"No, but seriously guys, we have to focus if we don't want to end up in summer school," Mal spoke looking at the group and how sleep-deprived they were.

This would only last a couple more hours until they decide to call it a night and do it all over again the next day.
