"Are you sure about this, Shoto?"
"Yeah, my sister won't stop asking about you. Neither does my mother. So I figured we can visit my mother first and then head to my house, Fuyumi is making dinner so we'll be there on time."
Shoto held Y/N's hand as they walked through the busy city. She was dressed in a simple skirt and Shoto's black hoodie. She smiled at him, feeling the way his hand tensed once in a while. She wasn't nervous per se, but she could tell her boyfriend was.
The pair made their way into the hospital where Shoto quickly checked themselves in. The staff had grown used to seeing the boy, so they didn't feel the need to repeat the room number or directions anymore. The nurses simply gave the two teens their visitor passes and sent them on their way.
Y/N followed Shoto through the halls and into the elevator, the boy leading the way towards his mother's room.
He knocked gently, a soothing and soft voice calling out to them.
"Come in."
Shoto gave Y/N a quick smile before sliding the door open.
Shoto's mother, Rei, smiled at her son, gentle greys that matched her son's right eye. Her attention then turned to the girl that timidly walked in behind him, and the woman quickly moved to stand.
"Mother, I would like you to meet Y/N. She's the girl I have been telling you about."
Y/N bowed politely.
"It's very nice to meet you, Mrs. Todoroki."
Rei smiled, nodding towards the respectful girl.
"I've heard a lot about you, please just call me Rei. Please sit"
Y/N followed Shoto to the seats that were lined against the wall of her room, both of them sitting down while Rei talked. The topics were mostly about Shoto's baby days, the good parts that is, which wasn't much. But Rei was happy to speak about them, so Y/N listened with a smile.
Y/N answered questions that Rei hit her with, like how her son acted in school and if he was on his best behavior, how they met. It had Shoto looking away in embarrassment as the two females went on and on.
"I've seen videos of your quirk, Shoto has shown me a few, and I can say for certainty, it's very beautiful. I wish I had a quirk as lovely as yours" Rei admitted, hands placed on her lap.
"Shoto's ice is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, and that's something he's inherited from you. Your quirk is also very lovely" Y/N insisted.
"You think so? That's reassuring to hear. I wish I had a view though. The garden outside of the hospital used to be so lively, but it's not really taken care of nowadays"
Y/N hummed in understanding, looking to the vase of withering flowers by her window. Shoto gently nudged the girl and stood up from his chair, Y/N catching on and standing as well.
"We'll be heading out mother" Shoto said. Rei smiled and stood up from her bed, hugging her son before doing the same to Y/N, much to the girls surprise.
"Come back and visit again okay?" Rei said, the two nodding with small smiles. The boy grabbed the girls hand before taking her out of the room. Shoto's mother smiled, turning to walk back to her bed. She stopped when her eyes landed on the flowers that were gifted to her by her son, they had been slowly dying, but now they were fully bloomed and thriving once again.
