Y/N followed the girl, Himari, deep into the city. It was a peculiar city layout, there was the middle class going towards the upper class, the lower class was tucked into the corner in attempts to hide it from tourists.

That's where Himari lead Y/N, there was a lot of people sitting along the side walks, cups in front of them as they begged for money, but all of them remained empty due to the lower class citizens also struggling to fend for themselves.

Y/N's e/c eyes scanned them all, their pale complexions and sunken faces was a clear representation of sickness and starvation taking its course, children being a victim to it as well.

"Are there no homeless shelters?" Y/N asked, looking down at Himari.
The black haired girl turned to look at the teen, her green eyes dripping with a hidden sadness and loneliness Y/N knew all too well.

"There used to be a lot, but the upper class started to take them down to build more enterprises and businesses. There's only three shelters left and they're all filled up, so the others started living on the streets" Himari explained. Y/N nodded, her boots clicking through the deathly silent area.

Himari eventually lead the way towards a worn down and dirty building. It was behind its time, the walls made of old wood that was bound to give anyone splinters if they ran their hand against it.
Y/N followed the twelve year old up the steps, the young teens eyes scanning the words engraved above the door.

"An orphanage?" Y/N questioned, Himari nodding in confirmation. She opened the door, its oldness prominent in the way it creaked loudly.
Y/N followed her inside, looking into the dark abyss that was supposed to be home to many children.
She heard fast approaching footsteps making their way down the rugged steps, beaming faces of malnourished children coming into view as they all gathered around the two.

"Himari! Did you find any food?!"

"No, but I found some help" Himari stated, the children now directing their eyes onto Y/N.

"Has she come to take one of us home?!"

They were now circling Y/N enthusiastically, excitement coursing through them at the idea of leaving their current lifestyles.

"Come on guys leave her alone, she's only a little older than me! Too young to take one of us with her" Himari scolded.
"Does Miss Beth know I left?"

"Yeah, she's upset with you!"

"That I am."

Himari flinched and scurried to hide behind Y/N, peaking her head out to see a woman with long blonde hair, hazel eyes soft yet sternly looking towards the girl.

"You know how dangerous it is going out there alone, especially when I've told you time and time again that you cannot be stealing. What if someone caught you? Turned you in and the police took you away?" Beth asked, Himari didn't say anything back, only gripped the back of Y/N's jacket tighter.

The woman then turned her attention to Y/N, smiling a little.

Y/N learned a thing or two about emotions during her time with Shoto. She was never able to read them as she found it difficult to express them herself, but she could easily see how strained Beth's smile was. A fake one like Shinobu's, the hurt in her eyes was prominent. A fake one that used to always coat Y/N's, but hasn't been used ever since Shoto's been taken.

Y/N's exhausted eyes fell onto Beth's, and the woman felt like she could write a novel on her just from how damaged they looked.

"Hi sweetheart, is there anything I can do to help?" Beth asked, wiping her damp hands on her apron, having been washing the dishes prior to scolding Himari.
