Chpt.3: Lost and Found

Chapter 3

I left the strange child in the room. I was baffled she wouldn't tell me her name. I couldn't help but worry for this child. I don't know what it is but she just seems different. I reached the emergency room. I looked at the man who was in the latest car accident. I looked at his injuries and went in to doctor mode.

When I finished with the man I headed back to the floor the child was on. I was off my shift but I had to see her. Even with the other patient I couldn't get my mind of this child. When I reached the floor I saw nurses running around as if in a panic.

I turned to the elder women who was the secretary.

"Mrs.Jade what's going on?" I asked with concern.

"Well Dr.Cullen it appears the child brought in earlier has gone missing" she said looking at the other nurses.

My still heart sunk. The child was gone.

"They don't know how she got away?" I asked.

"No. All we know is the window was open and no one was in the room. She had to have left through that. Her door hasn't open since you left earlier." She explained to me.

"Thank you." I replied to her. She just nodded her head at me and continued watching the scene.

I walked to the child's room to see if I could get her scent. I couldn't find one that wasn't the nurses. I didn't remember anything from earlier. Where could she have gone? How could she have left with the injuries she had?

These questions ran through my head on the drive home.

When I arrived Edward knew something was up immediately. He read my thoughts and saw the image of the child through them, along with what happened.

"I'm sure she is fine Carlisle." Edward tried to assure me.

"There is something about her....her eyes...." I said shaking my head.

"Yes. They are a very peculiar blue. Never seen anything like it." Edward said..

At that moment Esme came to me.

"Hello. How was work?" She asked me. I told her of the child and everything that happened.

"Oh that poor girl." She said with concern."I hope she is alright."

"Me too." I sighed.

Esme hugged my waist. "I'm sure she will turn up unharmed love." Esme said with a smile.

I looked at her and nodded. The child never leaving my thoughts.

After reaching the bridge. I fell asleep. When I awoke it was the next day. Yesterday's events came back to me like a bad dream. It seemed surreal that it happened. I got up and changed out of the gown into the shorts and tank-top from before. I only had two changes of clothes. My stomach growled. It was then I remembered I hadn't eaten in two days. I searched for money but only came up with 10 dollars and two granola bars. I had left the rest of my money in my pants pockets back at the hospital.

"Well that's just great" I sighed to myself. I would have to eat that and find a way to get more money. After eaten I walked to the stream for a drink of water. I also washed my face. Since I didn't get to explore yesterday I would today. Maybe use some of the Money for food from the store.

I left the stream and headed back into town this time staying away from the street. When I came to the general store I started walking towards it. It had begun to drizzle. My stomach growled loudly. I needed to get something else to satisfy the hunger.

Edward and the others had just left for school. Carlisle was about to head out to work. I told him I would go to the store to buy food to keep up human appearance. He agreed it was a good idea. I could tell he was still worried about the girl. I was to. The girl had been brought in bare-foot with several broken and fractured bones. It's to cold for a human to be dressed like that. Her parents must be very worried.

I got into the car and made my way to the store. When I got there I got out and got a buggy and made my way inside. I was walking past a isle with snacks when I saw a young dark brown haired girl with a tank-top and shorts on. No shoes. She looked at the many snacks with hungry eyes. This had to be the girl Carlisle spoke of. Even though she didn't appeared to be injured in anyway.
