Chapter 6
I yawned and turned over on my side. I felt something twisted around my leg. Whatever it was it was soft and kept me warm. When I opened my eyes it was a big thick blanket. I sat up from the comfy couch and looked around. That's when it came back to me I was still at the Cullen's house. I heard heavy thumps coming down the stairs. I turned to see who it was.
"Hey! Sleeping Beauty's awake." He said in a booming voice.
I blushed red and stared at him.
Again he had the same eyes as The Doc. He had short curly brown hair and was wearing a gray t-shirt and jeans. I couldn't help but stare at his muscles. He was huge.
"Like what you see?" He said teasingly. His face spread into a heart stopping smile. I blushed and looked away.
"It's okay." He said laughing. "I know I look good."
I looked back at him and rolled my eyes. He seemed to think this was funny and began to laugh again. His laugh was contagious. I found myself laughing along with him.
He grinned when he saw me laughing and came and sat beside me.
He held out his hand to me.
"I'm Emmett. It's nice to meet you." He said to me happily.
"Cora." I said shaking his hand.
It was freezing cold, but I didn't mind.
"Hello dear did you sleep well?" Esme said from behind me.
I turned to see her along with four others staring at me.
When had they come into the room?
"Yes." I whispered shyly.
"I'm glad." She said warmly.
I blushed and looked at the others. They were all as beautiful as Esme and Emmett.
"These are my children I told you about. You already met Emmett." She explained.
I nodded not saying anything.
"Well this is Alice, Jasper, Edward, and Rosalie." She said pointing at each one.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Cora." The girl named Alice said excitedly.
"You too." I mumbled.
"Well I'm going to start dinner." Esme said walking for the door.
"Would you like something to snack on Cora?" She said with a smile.
"Oreos." I said with a smile.
Esme laughed and smiled widely.
"Oreos it is." She said to me.
Esme left the room and I was alone with the others.
Alice came and sat on the other side of me. She had short spiky black hair and wore nice designer clothes just like the rest.
"So how old are you?" She asked curiously.
"13." I answered.
Edward and Rosalie moved to sit on the couch across from us. Jasper leaned against the wall. He had blonde hair falling around his face.
Edward had messy bronze hair. And Rosalie had beautiful blonde locks. They were all so beautiful and I wasn't. I knew I didn't belong instantly.
"Your hair is lovely." She complimented.
"Oh! I could do so much. And dress you up.." She said excitedly.
I just blushed and said thank you.
Esme came back with my pack along with a glass of milk. She sat it on the table in front of the couch.
"Here you go." She said before leaving once more.
I slid of the couch and moved toward the Oreos. I ripped open the pack and grabbed one. I took it apart and dipped the side with the less icing in the milk and ate it.
"Mmmm...." I moaned in delight.
I looked back up to see Edward smiling slightly and Rosalie staring emotionless.
I blushed and held up the pack.
"Would you guys like one?" I asked them.
They smiled and laughed telling me no. I just stared not getting what was funny, then started eating my Oreos again.
"Soo what grade are you in?" Edward asked me.
I stiffened and looked up. I think people my age are in the eighth. I don't know. I never been to school. I just taught myself to read and write. Sometimes when I was bored I would sit outside of classrooms and listen to the teachers. It helped that I could catch on easily to what was being said. I'm proud to say I have never been caught.
"Eighth grade..."I said trying to sound confident.
"Why weren't you at school today?" Rosalie said for the first time. They couldn't know about me. There's no telling what could happen.
I picked up another Oreo and answered.
"I'm home schooled. My mom finished teaching early so I went to walk Round town." I said with a shrug.
Lies. It seemed if I wanted to stay around. I would have to tell them.
Rosalie seemed to be a little skeptical about this but let it go.
"What do you like to do for fun?" Alice asked me. I was happy she changed the subject. This was something I didn't mind answering.
"I like to explore and collect things." I said with a smile.
"Do you like to go shopping?" Alice asked me.
I bit my lip and looked at her.
"Well... I have never really been." I told.
"Does shopping with Esme today count? If so I liked that." I said with a small smile.
She looked at me with big eyes.
"That's shopping, but I meant for clothes and other things. I'm so taking you." Alice said to me seriously.
"No...that's okay. You don't have to. I probably want be good at it anyways." I told her shaking my head.
I stood up from the ground and let the blanket fall back on to the couch. They stared at me. I knew they were looking at my clothes.
"No. I want to." Alice said with a sad smile. "It will be fun."
I just nodded embarrassed. I picked up the glass and Oreos and started for the kitchen. I had to get away from them. I know I don't belong. It was nice being around people. But I think it's best to just be on my own. I didn't fit in here. That was clear.
