Chpt.16: New Home

Chapter 16

The sun had finally set and it was dark out. Everyone was talking amongst their selfs. I walked to the kitchen for a glass of water. I took a seat at the counter and placed my glass on it.

I twirled my finger over the opening of the glass and made a whirl pool.

"That's really cool." I heard a voice say.

I turned to see Bella.

"Thanks." I told her.

"Why are you in here by yourself?" She asked curiously.

"Just getting a drink." I said smiling slightly.

"So...how are you taking the whole vampire thing?" She asked sitting down with me.

I smiled looking up at her.

"It's...different. But I like the Cullen's, it doesn't matter to me what they are. They were open minded about me, so I was with them." I said with a shrug.

She smiled at this.

"You sound like me when I found out." She told me.

I smiled.

"Great minds think alike." I replied.

She laughed and nodded.

"I should go. It's getting late." I said looking at the window.

"Where are you going?" She said confused.

"I don't live here Bella. I have to leave at some point." I said heading for the back door.

"But Edward said you didn't have a home." Bella said falling me to the door.

"Technically I don't, but that doesn't mean I can barge into someone else's." I said turning to her.

She just looked at me sadly.

"Will you be back tomorrow?" She asked.

I shrugged and smiled.

"Tell them bye for me. They probably want let me leave if I tell them." I said to her.

With that I took of into the night. I ran to the creek and jumped over it. Then I made my way to the bridge. It felt like a lifetime ago that I had been here. I opened my book bag that still laid on the concrete. I pulled out my blanket going to sleep. Images of the Cullen's never leaving my mind.

Cora had just ran out the back door. She left me with a message to give to the Others. I walked back to the living room and found them talking and laughing.

"What's wrong Bella?" Edward asked appearing in front of me. I must have had an expression on my face.

"Cora, she left. Told me to tell you guys bye for here." I told them sadly.

"What?!" Esme said sadly.

"Why'd she leave??" Emmett asked.

"She kept talking about this not being her home. An how she didn't like barging in. I asked if she was coming back, she never answered." I explained.

Alice stared into space.

"Alice what did you see?" Jasper asked moving closer to her.

"Cora...she's at the bridge. She's asleep." Alice said getting up from the couch.

"We must go get her Carlisle." Esme said worriedly.

"Yes. Lets go." He said getting the car keys.

I was laying on the concrete sleep. A car door open and closed. I sat up wondering who it was. A second later the Cullen's and Bella appeared in front of me.

"What are you doing here?" I asked confused.

"We could ask the same of you." Alice said crossing her arms.

I stared at her.

"Did you want your clothes and stuff back. I was going to give them to you tomorrow." I told her.

"We didn't come her for the clothes. Their yours, you can have them." She said shaking her head.

"We came here for you Cora." Esme said with a sad smile.

"I don't understand...why would you do that?" I asked.

"Because your family C." Emmett said with grinning.

I stared at them looking at them all in the eyes.

"I don't know what to say." I told them.

"Don't say anything. Get your stuff and come home." Edward said smiling. Bella hugged his waist and nodded looking me in the eyes.

Carlisle came and sat in front of me.

"Cora. I think I speak for us all when I say we all really care about you. An that you are our family. We would all be very happy if you came and lived with us." He told me softly.

"Seriously Doc?" I said to him.

He chuckled and nodded.

"Seriously." He told me.

I looked at Esme who was smiling.

"You are my daughter Cordelia." She told me softly.

I smiled and tears came to my eyes. I walked and gave Esme a hug. Then I looked at everyone else.

"Everyone is ok with this....?"I asked

All of then smiled or nodded their heads, except Rosalie. I walked over and stood in front of her.

"Are you okay with this?"I asked her. She stared at me and I her. Everyone turned to Rosalie to listen to her answer.

"Some 'like' is better then none right?" She said smiling at me.

I just smiled and nodded my head.

Then she nodded hers.

"Ok." I said happily.

"YES!!!" Emmett said picking me up and spinning me around.

I laughed with along with the others.

"I have a new little sister." He said sitting back on the ground.

"Come on let's go home." Carlisle said.

I grabbed my bag and blanket and walked from up under the bridge.

Everyone ran vampire speed to their cars at the top of it. Edward carried Bella. I turned and took one last look at the bridge that had been my temporary home. I would never have to sleep under it or any other bridge ever again.

"Cora." I heard Esme call.

I turned to her. A small smile graced her face.

"You coming?" She asked.

"Yes." I said returning the smile.

An with that I left the bridge for the last time. I had never been happier.
