John's POV

Over the next few days, John and Tommy settled into a routine. John would get up early to make breakfast, and they would eat together before John took Tommy to the park or for a walk around the neighborhood. John wanted to give Tommy a sense of normalcy and stability, things he had been missing for so long.

One morning, John decided it was time to talk to Tommy about his past. He knew it would be difficult, but he needed to understand what the boy had been through to help him heal.

"Tommy," John said gently, as they sat on the couch together, "I want to help you, but I need to know more about what happened to you. Can you tell me about your mom and the bad man?"

Tommy's eyes filled with tears, and he clutched his teddy bear tightly. "The bad man hurt my mom. He hurt me too."

John's heart ached for the boy. "I'm so sorry, Tommy. You're safe now. I promise, I'll never let anyone hurt you again."

Tommy nodded, but the fear in his eyes remained. John knew it would take time for the boy to truly feel safe.

Tommy's POV

Tommy was grateful for John's kindness, but the fear and memories of the bad man still haunted him. He had nightmares almost every night, waking up in a cold sweat, heart pounding. Each time, John would come to his room, sit with him, and reassure him that he was safe.

During the day, Tommy started to feel more comfortable in John's home. He loved playing with his new toys and spending time with John. Slowly, he began to trust that John wouldn't leave him or hurt him.
