Tommy's POV

As Tommy grew more comfortable, John suggested that it might be time for him to start school. Tommy was nervous but also excited at the prospect of making new friends and learning new things.

John took him to visit a local elementary school, and Tommy was introduced to his new teacher, Mrs. Green. She was kind and welcoming, showing Tommy around the classroom and introducing him to some of the other kids.

Tommy was still shy and anxious, but Mrs. Green made him feel welcome. John reassured him that he would be there to pick him up every day after school.

First Day of School

On the first day of school, Tommy clung to John's hand as they walked to the classroom. John knelt down and gave him a reassuring hug.

"You're going to do great, Tommy. Just be yourself and have fun. I'll be right here to pick you up when school is over."

Tommy nodded, though his heart was pounding. He took a deep breath and walked into the classroom, where Mrs. Green greeted him with a warm smile.

As the day went on, Tommy began to relax. He liked the other kids and enjoyed the activities. By the time John came to pick him up, he had a small smile on his face.

"How was your first day, buddy?" John asked as they walked home.

"It was good," Tommy said softly. "I made a friend."

John's heart swelled with pride. "That's great, Tommy. I'm so proud of you."

Evening

That evening, Tommy and John celebrated with ice cream. Tommy felt a sense of accomplishment and pride. For the first time in a long while, he felt hopeful about the future.
