Tommy's POV

One night, Tommy woke up screaming, the nightmare still fresh in his mind. He had dreamt of the bad man coming back, dragging him away from John's home. He couldn't breathe, and tears streamed down his face.

John rushed into the room, his face filled with concern. "Tommy, it's okay. It was just a dream. You're safe here."

Tommy threw himself into John's arms, sobbing uncontrollably. John held him tightly, whispering soothing words until the boy's sobs subsided.

"It's okay, Tommy. I've got you. You're safe," John repeated, rocking him gently.

Tommy clung to John, his small body trembling. "I'm scared, John. The bad man might come back."

John's heart broke at the boy's words. "He won't, Tommy. I promise. I'll protect you. No one will hurt you ever again."

Tommy nodded, but the fear lingered. John stayed with him until he fell back asleep, his presence a comforting shield against the nightmares.

John's POV

After Tommy finally fell asleep, John sat by his bed, watching the boy's peaceful face. He knew the road ahead would be difficult, but he was determined to help Tommy heal. He made a silent vow to be the father Tommy needed, to give him the love and security he had been missing.

The next morning, John made a decision. He would look into getting professional help for Tommy. The boy needed more than just a safe place; he needed therapy to deal with the trauma he had experienced.

Morning

John made some calls and found a therapist who specialized in working with traumatized children. He scheduled an appointment and sat Tommy down to explain.

"Tommy, I found someone who can help you feel better. Her name is Dr. Carter, and she's very nice. She talks to kids who have been through hard times and helps them feel better. Would you like to meet her?"

Tommy looked uncertain but nodded. "Okay, John."

John smiled, relieved. "Great. We'll go see her tomorrow. Don't worry, I'll be with you the whole time."

Tommy nodded again, and John felt a flicker of hope. This was just the beginning, but he was ready to do whatever it took to help Tommy heal.
