Chapter 20

30 years later

Time has passed since I have heard from Starfire, last I had hear from her was a few years back when we were talking. We kept up talking on the device she had giving me and the others when she left, but after a while she stopped communicating to us. I have no idea if I'll ever see her again but a lot has changed here, Bruce and Barbara had their wedding in Hawaiian and I went to it, I know what your all thinking but I spoke to them about how I was feeling, Starfire helped me to do that I told them how much it hurt me to see them together like that after coming home from work, Bruce apologized to me realizing what a complete jerk he was. We spent some time together and when I asked him if he truly loved, Barbara he told me yes, he apologized for not being there for me I accepted his apology and we worked on trust again. Same with Barbara we talked and she apologized for hurting me, we had a lot of things to talk about that was left unsaid. I'm glad we worked it out it was for the best to. Garfield and Raven are engaged to be married, he proposed to her at a comic-con while they were dressed as Kagome and Inuyasha from the anime. It was adorable Raven was crying uncontrollable as she said yes to him, Starfire was there for that. She was able to spare a few minutes with us that day, until she was called for duty again. I was missing Starfire a lot seeing everyone together and being happy though, didn't make me feel lonely or depress at all. In fact it made me feel happy I had Starfire to talk to, when she could and that was all that mattered to me plus the guys and I would hang out together and make time for one another. Victor's business is doing great too, he hired more help so that he wouldn't get overwhelmed with anything. And Raven is loving her new job at the library, she said it's more relaxing than it was working for Bruce. Don't get me wrong he is an amazing boss and the pay is great but she wanted something more peaceful. Karen's bakery has been a bit, she's been having lots of people ordering from her. The most popular item from her is her strawberry cheesecake squares. Their really amazing her ingredients are made fresh, every morning is when she and her coworkers start the baking process they are decilious every time. She always runs out before the day ends, and never sells anything more than once unless it gets popular. Garfield is now a video game designer instead of a video game tester, he wanted to try his hands in gaming and it turns out he's really good at it. The games he makes are a bunch of fighting games, but their really fun. He even got video game of the year, his game sold more than any other video game has before. I'm happy for all of my friends they deserve all of the good things happening to them, what's going on with me you might ask? Well I told you that Starfire and I stopped talking a few years back, it's true and I'm okay with it. It was bound to happened with her being on Tamaran while I'm here on Earth, we tried our best to make it work but we soon got busy. Me with staring my new business it took a couple of years but I got it, Starfire was the one to encourage me to do it. I miss her badly though she told me that I wouldn't die if I were to come visit her it has air so I could breathe, one day I'll do it so we can be together. The others are supposed to come to the restaurant today, they are planning a surprised for me I have no idea what it is. But I'm excited for it I'm gonna have the restaurant to ourselves for when the others come, I made foods that Starfire loved when we were together I serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner with dessert all of the food that Starfire and I shared will always have a special place in my heart. I hum softly getting dinner ready for tonight, I decide it would be nice for us to have chicken Alfredo and for Garfield of course he gets to have veggie pasta. I hum softly working my magic in the kitchen I make the sauces while the pasta cooks, after that is done I put the ingredients together and start mixing it. I sigh softly realizing that I will be a fourth will, I know I said that I was happy everyone had someone. But its lonely inside of my home when Starfire lived with me, it didn't seem so big anymore. We never made what we had official so I couldn't call her my girlfriend either I tired dating for awhile but I couldn't do it, Starfire was the one for me even though I had just knew her for a couple of months I started developing feelings for her. But I pushed them down thinking I was just needing someone to be with, but that wasn't the case I had fallen in love with my best friend she was still on my mind. I wish I could tell her how I feel, and maybe I will after tonight I'll grab the communication device and tell her how I feel. I smile softly to myself as I set everything up, soon I heard the footsteps of my friends coming into the restaurant. I was preparing their plates having my back to them. "Hey guys have a seat the wine is, already on the table help yourself to some I'll be there soon". A voice I haven't heard in a long time suddenly speaks up. "Would you have room for one more?". The woman asks me I lift my head up as my eyes widen, from the sound of her voice. I turn my head to see Starfire looking at me, she's older but still beautiful. Her hair has gotten curly and longer since the last time I saw her, she has the necklace I had given to her a couple of years ago. Around her neck my eyes blink as I quickly run to her, my mouth opened but no words are coming out. I then look to Raven, Victor, Karen, and Garfield who have soft smiles on their faces. Raven comes up and speaks up. "This is your surprise Dick". She says softly as Garfield walks next to her wrapping, a arm loosely around her shoulder. "Surprised dude! Starfire is your gift from us!". Karen smiles as she speaks up next. "We know how much, you've been missing her even though you don't say it. We thought to have her come see you". Victor chuckles softly as he pushes me a bit closer to Star. "Come on man, say something to the girl she came all the way here just to see you". Victor says softly pulling back. I look at Starfire as I ran to her hugging her tightly, as tears fall down my cheeks. "Y-you're here Starfire you're really here I am s-so sorry. It wasn't right for me to just cut all communication with you, life got so busy for me and I'm really sorry Starfire". Starfire holds me close to her as I cry in her arms she then, pulls away from gently wiping the tears that run down my cheeks. "It's okay Dick I should have, also did my part and kept in touch with you too. Life for so busy for me that I cut you and everyone off, it wasn't until a couple of days ago that I heard from everyone. They told me they were coming to your restaurant, so I decided to come back". She pulls me back into another hug holding me, as I held onto her I buried my face into her shoulder blade hugging her. I've missed her so much and she's here with me, I couldn't believe that Starfire was here. I sighed softly pulling back from her stepping back, looking at her gently searching her eyes. "But what about your people? Don't they need a leader? What are they gonna do while you're here visiting us?". I asked Starfire softly she smiles at me softly cupping my face, in her hands. "That's the best part I found someone who was willing to take over for me, Galfore has decided to take over as king for me. Seeing as Blackstar could not be trusted, I choose him to ran things for me. He told me to live my life the way I want to, and I choice to spend my life with you and the others". She says softly placing her forehead against mine. I smile as I start to cry again, man I'm such a baby I haven't cried this much since the night she left, I smile softly looking at her before I gently press my lips against hers as she, smiles and kisses me back wrapping her arms around my neck as the others cheer loudly and whoop for us. I am so glad we are the only ones in the restaurant right now, we pull apart then finally make our way to the table to eat I was so busy with Starfire and our friends we almost forgot about the food. Everything had gotten cold so I had to reheat everything then we enjoyed our meal, I couldn't believe Starfire was back I did end up getting rid of everything in her room. But that won't be a problem since now we'll be sharing a room, we enjoyed spending time with everyone. We decided to do an adult sleepover and play games, had some wine and ate some more food. Garfield and Raven didn't have to work luckily, we all decided to hang out like we did all those years ago. I was overwhelmed with happiness having Starfire back, after the fun had wind down Starfire and I went up to the roof and cuddled against each other. We looked up at the moon together holding each other, "Starfire are you sure, you want to do this? I feel bad for letting you give up everything you worked hard for". Starfire stares at me with a soft look on her face. "Yes Dick I have been waiting for 30 years to come back to you, we lost out on those years but now we get to be happy. Galfore asked me what I wanted, and I told him I wanted to be back with you. So I searched for someone who was kind, loyal, responsible, and tough with my people. And I picked Galfore because he was all of those things, I am glad to be with you Dick and I wouldn't change it for the world". I smile at her as her words make me feel good about myself. I held her in my arms cuddling her close, I smile at her gently. "Don't worry Star we'll figure this out because we're a team". We smile back at one another as we embrace looking up at the sky together.

10 years later again

It's been a few years since Starfire came back to earth, and I couldn't be happier we started working together inside of the restaurant, it was great everyone loves her she is still an amazing cook. She always puts a smile on those who come to the restaurant too, Garfield and Raven got married a couple of months after she returned it was a beautiful bookish, anime theme wedding Karen made them a beautiful wedding cake with Raven's favorite thriller book on there. And Garfield's favorite anime at the time. The food was amazing as well, I didn't Carter it because, I didn't plan on asking them. Victor's business has been growing too Victor and Karen also got married a couple of months ago it was a simple wedding, decorated with blue and white theme colors. They didn't want to go over the top with theirs which was okay with Victor. Their buffet was really amazing though they had so much food and dessert everyone had enough food that lasted them for awhile, we had our date nights when we enjoyed all the things we used to do when we were younger but our favorite was the aquarium and our picnics. Garfield and Raven decided to become cat parents to orange kitty named Simba and a black kitty named Cleo, they adopted them a 2 years after their wedding. They decided not to have kids which was okay to the both of them, Victor and Karen however had twin boys. They were proud becoming parents of Sebastian and Ezra they said if the boys, didn't want to take over either one of their businesses that it would be okay. Their happy with their little family me and others, always help when Victor and Karen need a break or get too worn out. Starfire and I decided not to have kids we were okay without kids or pets, Starfire and I go to visit her planet thankfully it's safe for me to be there without any kind of special equipment to use. I was happy because Starfire could visit her home as much as possible, with or without me. I am happy to have Starfire, Victor, Raven, Garfield, and Karen in my life. They have become the most important people in my life, I smile warmly as everyone is in the backyard of mine and Starfire's house having a good time at the little party we decided to have. There's nothing special to celebrate we just decided to have a party, it was great with all of our friends here with their kids. I sighed softly realizing just how much my life has changed, when Starfire came into my life she thought me a lot of things. One of them was that realizing I don't have to hide my emotions with her, we have deep meaningful conversations that sometimes last til done. I'm much happier now than I was a few years ago I smile as everyone is having a good time, I feel Starfire wrap her arms around my neck. I don't turn around to face her. But I do cover her hands with mine. "Having a good time darling?". She asks me as I respond to her with laughter in my voice. "Yeah it's great everyone's, having a good time". I say softly smiling. "Guys come on! Let's have some cake!". Garfield yells at us smiling softly. Karen then laughs and shouts at us as well. "It's lemon flavored, with blueberry jam!". Victor smirked at us, crossing his arms as he is near Karen. "Better hurry! Before I cut a huge slice!". Raven shakes her head, as she smiles at us. "he's serious guys, you know he'll do it". Raven tells us smiling softly. Starfire and I look at each other, before laughing out loud together. "We're coming!". We say together as we both ran towards everyone hand in hand. This was the story of how, I met the love of my life Starfire and how she changed my life.
