Chapter 11

I woke up right on time this morning at my regular time which was good I was exhausted from, work last night so Starfire and I went to bed right after we finished up with dinner and dessert. Going to bed early like that wasn't normal we normally would stay up for a bit and watch a movie or, some trashy reality show I wanted to have some extra time with Starfire badly but it just didn't happen. I sighed softly as I had gotten ready for the day already smelling breakfast, a smile was on my face as I walked downstairs seeing Starfire still in her PJs her long red hair in a neat bun sitting on top of her head she had made us oatmeal, fruit salad, and muffins I smiled as I sat down in the chair. "Thanks for making breakfast Starfire this, looks amazing I'll wash the dishes". Starfire smiles at me nodding her head. "Thank you Dick I noticed that we are almost low on, food so I'll go do the shopping. Don't worry I asked Victor if he could go with me and he said yes, it'll be later though since he has to work. But I'll get what we need so don't worry". Starfire tells me giving me a soft smile I smile back and nod my head. "Thanks Starfire oh I forgot to tell you but everyone can come to our picnic, so we'll need to get some stuff for that too. Everyone is bringing something Raven is bringing drinks, ice, and plates. Garfield is bringing his special dip with chips, and sandwiches, Victor is bringing some of his BBQ ribs to enjoy, and Bree is bringing some cakes and ice cream for us all". Starfire smiles and nods her head. "Wonderful we'll get pasta salad in order for everyone not to mention the veggie burgers, beef burgers, and hot dogs". Starfire tells me finishing her breakfast. I take our plates and walk over to the sink as I washed the dishes, I couldn't wait to spend time with Starfire and the others. Everyone has been so busy working we haven't had a break, I can't wait to see everyone again, I used to be all about working, eating, sleeping and it would repeat over and over again. But since that day I first saw Starfire my life has changed for the better, I'm working out more I'm eating healthier. And I've stopped drinking so much as well, that reminds me I wonder if we should get a few alcoholic drinks for this party, I'll have to ask everyone in the group if they are okay with that. Some of our friends don't always drink so maybe I'll get some fruity alcoholic drinks for everyone, I finished washing and drying the dishes. Then put them away I gave Starfire a quick hug before running out of the door grabbing my bag. I got into my car driving off wishing that I was already done with work, I sigh softly as I made it without a minute to spare. I got to work saying hello to Raven who was working already, she doesn't live too far from the office so she gets her pretty early. She and I have gotten closer since Garfield was fired we hang out everyday having lunch together, we both manage to not be fired because Raven knows what to do to keep her jump. She also has the smarts to continue working here, but I feel like the only reason I was kept on, was because of the situation I really wanted to quit. But because I had Starfire living with me now, I stayed on unlike Barbara Starfire doesn't complain about what we do. She would rather go on a picnic with my friends then go to a fancy party, with snooty rich people that serves little food. I sighed softly as I continued on with my work, when Raven comes up to me, I don't look at her but know that it's her. "Hey Rae hang on just a minute, I've got to work on this". I tell her as I type on my computer working on my assignment. "Nah this won't take long I just came to tell you, that I can't wait for the party I'm actually really excited to be there, especially since we get a 3 day weekend off should be fun. Garfield says he's got a surprised for everyone too, should be a fun week I will bring the ice, cups, and plates". I nodded my head I was also excited to finally have fun with the others, I couldn't wait to see everyone and hang out again. "Yeah me too should be fun, I wonder what he's gonna bring then. Now I'm even more excited can't wait for this work day to end". I tell Raven as I type away on my computer. Shs nods her head smiling a little. "Right okay I'll see you later for lunch, I better go finish my work before Bruce comes out and us not working bye". Raven says then leaves for her desk again to work, if it wasn't for Raven being here I would have quitted a long time ago, Raven still being here was good. The money I make here isn't bad either, I've always saved anyways in fact I still save a good amount of money since Starfire and I mainly eat at home, but maybe soon we can go back out again. But just the two of us instead of the others, don't get me wrong I love hanging out with the others. But I think Starfire and I hanging out together would be fun, I think I'll see about next Saturday. We'll start with breakfast at the waffle house, go to the bookstore, then go see a movie, go to brother hunters pizza place for pizza, and finish off our day with a walk at the park with ice cream, I could feel a smile graze my lips as I thought about all the fun things for us to do. I've been saving up a lot and I think Starfire deserves to be pamper every once in awhile, I would do that for Barbara too expect fancy restaurants and clothes shopping. I couldn't wait for next Saturday to get here already and the weekend with the others, hasn't even started yet I can't wait to spend time with everyone either but I'm even more, excited to hang out with Starfire alone.

  Starfire's POV 12:30

I went shopping with Victor for our party he brought what he needed to make his special BBQ ribs he joked about if he told me his secrets, his mother would slap him into next week. I didn't really get what he was talking about but I smiled anyways, I got some food for the party as well and also stuff we needed for the house. Dick gave me the money for the food and whatever else we needed, I wish I was working like everyone else was but Dick makes more money than what he knows what to do with. Victor is rich his own self so he lives comfortably too, he owns his own car shop and is great at what he does. Even by the fact that he lost both his arms, legs, and one eye luckily his parents had saved his life. They replaced them with robotic arms, legs, and a eye, it does not let him stop him the reason why he lost those parts was because he was in a gang growing up. They told him to go inside of his parents lab to get something, he did but it was the worst mistake of his life. Luckily his parents wasn't there or they would have been dead too, they saved his life that night and he stopped hanging out with those awful gang members after that. We got what we needed and got out of there. "I can't wait for you to try my special ribs Star, it's a old family recipe passed down from generations. I'm so glad we get to hang out again Saturday, Karen is coming with the desserts so I'll be bringing her since my car has more room. By the way I wanted to thank you". I looked at Victor staring at him a bit confused as he thanks me. "Thank me for what?". I asked with confusion in my voice. He smiles back at me chuckling a bit, "Thank you for making Dick happy, thank you for being the girl he needed in his life". Victor tells me his voice full of appreciation and softness. I smiled back at him gently before I place the bags into the car. "He is the one who saved me that night, I should be thanking him he's helped me to understand your world. And has showed me nothing but kindness since I've been here". I tell Victor smiling getting into his car, we decided to grab a bite to eat for lunch before we went home.

  Dick's POV

I groaned softly as I stretched my arms over my head before I opened up my lunch box and started eating, it was leftovers from last night, that Starfire and I had. It was still delicious as it was last night. Raven sat beside me and I noticed her lunch looking delicious as well. I noticed she had rice, salmon, and salad as her lunch it smelled amazing. "Hey Raven did you cook that?". I asked her motioning my head towards her lunch, she nods swallowing a bit of her food before opening up her mouth to speak. "Yeah just some rice, salmon, and salad from last night, decided to make some healthy lunches for myself this week since we are gonna have some pretty heavy food this week". Raven tells me before she goes back to eating, I think about what she says and agree with her silently eating my lunch. We are gonna have a pretty heavy food selection at the picnic but I'm sure we'll have a great time doing it, I can't wait to have some fun with our friends. I'm sure Starfire is just as excited as me, Raven and I suddenly hear Bruce's voice as he speaks to everyone in the office, curious about what he wants to talk about. "Attention everyone! We will be having our annual party this year! I hope you don't have any plans because it's Saturday! It starts at 6:00 PM so dress accordingly and yes you can bring someone, as your date it'll be great food there and drinks are free but please make sure to behave I don't need to be embarrassed like last year". Bruce says as he looks around the room looking at everyone, I hear a few people groan as he tells us while others are excited for it. I groan softly there goes the picnic I quickly pull out my phone and tell them we will have to change it for Sunday at least, we will have Monday to recover from a hangover if we get one. I sigh softly already Bee was saying she had a family gathering for that day planned, but she would give Victor the dessert for us. Garfield and Victor was of course was fine with it but was sad Karen couldn't be there to join us, Starfire didn't mind either she said it was okay and at least we had Sunday for ourselves. I sent them a quick message saying okay for now before putting my phone away and going back to work, I have a feeling I'm gonna have a bad day tomorrow and it hasn't even came yet.
