Mirza rested his face on Maaz's shoulder while his brother ran a comforting hand on his back. He could feel his eyes closing again, the gentle strokes were putting him back to a peaceful sleep, but he was shaken awake when Maaz pulled away scarcely to obtain a glimpse of his face, "You want to sleep again?"
Mirza whined, when his brother pulled away from the warm embrace and encircled his arms around Maaz's neck this time, resting his head on his neck. Maaz hesitated, Mirza had already napped throughout the day, and if he dozed off again, then he won't be able to sleep at night.
"Everyone to the living room!" Murtasim demands firmly, breaking Maaz out of his thoughts. He glanced at his brother thankfully, aware why he made this decision.
He gently pulled away and placed Mirza on the bed, in a sitting position, who was ready to doze off, but jerked awake upon being detached from the warmth once again.
"Bhaiya" He whimpers, reaching his arms out.
Majed shifted over and ruffled his hair, pulling him in a hug and Mirza melts in his embrace, "Bhaiyu dekho na, bhaiya won't let me sleep!"
{Bhaiyu, look bhaiya won't allow me to sleep}
"Mirza, you've-" Maaz is cut off by the ring of his phone, he glanced at the caller ID and abruptly moved out of the room.
"Let's go to the living room. If you go to sleep now, then who will play with me? I'm bored, come on!" Majed said with a charming smile on his face.
"But I'm sweepy bhaiyu." Mirza whispers, tugging at his sleeves when Majed goes to stand up.
"I want you all in the living room within the next three minutes" Murtasim declares, offering a pointed look to Majed before leaving the room.
Majed turned to Mirza, trying his best to coax him, "You can pick any game you'd like and I'll play with you. Don't lose this opportunity because it's very rare,"
Mirza rubs his eyes to wipe out the sleep before looking up, "Piggyback ride?"
Majed chuckled before moving his head in a nodding motion, "Alright, come on then! Piggyback ride it is!"
Mirza climbs on his older brother's back who jumps slightly to adjust the younger one on his back, "Hold on tight. You good?"
"Yup"
"Then let's go, baby!"
Mirza giggled when Majed made a bee-line until he approached the stairs and then cascaded down the stairs carefully.
Maaz stood by the window on his phone, typing up efficiently, when his younger brother walked in with Mirza on his back. Please don't tell me what I think it is. Maaz thought, his eyes hardening.
"Did you carry Mirza down the stairs while he was on your back?"
Majed eyed him in confusion yet nodded his head. "Yeah, he wanted a piggyback ride and I gave him one. Simple!"
"Majed," Maaz began, his voice grim. "He's a child but you know how dangerous it is to walk down the stairs while carrying him– or anything at all– yet you still took the risk. What were you even thinking?"
Majed set his eyes on the floor, his arms tightening around Mirza's thighs to keep him supported on his back, "I won't drop him, I'm not weak"
"It's not about being weak, bacha" Maaz said gently. "But it's risky. If anything happened while you were walking down, it won't be only one of you who takes tha fall. Just don't do it again."
