The LaRussos' invited Alana, Johnny, and the Diaz family to stay for dinner. Alana sat in between Miguel and Sam as the three were laughing about something Sam said.
"So how's business?" Carmen asked. Daniel shrugged. "Uh, the dealerships' been the best it's been in years. It should practically be on autopilot by the time Sam takes over. Right, Sam?" Sam smiled awkwardly. "Dad-" She started. "You're gonna take over the dealership? That's awesome." Miguel said. "Well-"
"nah, it's just an inside joke. When Sam was a little girl, she used to walk around like she owned the place." Daniel cut Sam off. "Well, can you blame her? She was practically raised on that showroom floor. Almost born on it too." Amanda added which made Carmen laugh.
"Hey, whatever Sam wants to do with her life, that's entirely up to her. If she decides to go to school nearby, maybe get her MBA. USC, UCLA, I'm just saying...it's all icing on the cake." Daniel said with a shrug. Sam looked down at her plate, Alana saw this and softly nudged her. "So, Miguel, Alana, how's school going?" Amanda asked. "Uh, good. Uh, great actually." Miguel replied. "Yeah." Alana added as the couple smiled together
"Straight A's this semester for the both of them," Carmen said with a smile. "Yeah, they're total nerds." Johnny joked "See, with grades like that, you guys can go anywhere you want," Daniel stated. "Yeah. I'd, uh, like to go to Stanford." Miguel replied nervously. "That's a pretty impressive school," Daniel stated. "Yeah, I think it's like number six in the country. The campus is beautiful." Miguel said excitedly.
"It's definitely a top choice. But that tuition, wow. We're also thinking about Santa Monica College, right Miguel? Save some money, live at home, then see where we go from there." Carmen said.
"Alana, what about you?" Daniel asked making her stop chewing on her food, immediately everyone looking at her. She glanced up to see them waiting for her, she finished chewing and cleared her throat. "Uh, well when i was younger Eli, Demetri, and I have always wanted to go to MIT. But, uh, I don't know about that anymore." she said softly looking at everyone's wide eyes. It was no secret that Alana was one of the smartest people at that table.
"MIT, Lani, that's incredible." Miguel said as he side hugged her, she smiled softly. "Alana, what do you mean not anymore? Getting into MIT is the most impressive thing." Amanda said with a big smile, "Yeah, I mean, you're the smartest kid I know." Daniel said Alana started feeling overwhelmed, "I don't know, I guess after everything that happened, i just haven't thought about it enough." she shrugged, everyone nodded but she looked down. "Just know that you always have time mija." Carmen said softly making the girl smile
"Well SMC's great too. It's right by the beach. Have you checked out the campus yet?" Daniel asked Miguel "No actually, I-I-I haven't." Miguel stuttered as his hand pushed against the wooden fork causing it to bump into Daniel's wine glass and making it fall into Daniel's lap.
