"Tell them what karate means to you. How you started Cobra Kai to help kids like us, how to stand up for ourselves." Alana said as her, Miguel, and Johnny walked to the apartments

"Maybe this is a blessing in disguise." Johnny said, "What's that supposed to mean?" Alana asked, Miguel sighed, "It's not like you were even gonna fight." Miguel said making Alana look at him.
"Of course i was" She said, Johnny and Miguel standing in front of her.

"Training with no contact is one thing, I can't risk you getting hurt." Johnny said, "It's not fair. i'm working hard, getting better." She said looking at them.
"It's for your safety." Johnny told, "I thought safety was for pussies?"

"This is different, Lani." Miguel told her, she looked at him with sadness in her eyes.
"No, Y'all don't think i can do it!" she shouted at them as a door opened up, Miguel looked to see it was his mom.

"You almost hurt yourself with one kick! One kick! what do you think's gonna happen in real fight?" Johnny shouted, "You already proved you could win." Miguel said softly to the girl, he hoped she'd listen.

"And i need to prove it again. You guys said you'd always be on my side." Alana said with tears in her eyes before turning around and walking to her place.

"Lani.." Miguel said but she just ignored him. Carmen gave both Johnny and Miguel a soft smile.

Alana decided to do this her way. The next day she got dressed, She wore some baggy pants and a tan shirt with an oversized orange flannel that she's 100% sure it was Miguel's. After she got in her Jeep she drove to the committee meeting with a determined look on her face.

Both Miguel and Johnny went to the committee meeting.
"it is clear that this karate tournament is causing division and rivalry in our community. You gentlemen...have made an excellent case today as to why this tournament should not continue." Roberts spat.

"Wait!" A female voice said. Everyone turned to see Alana standing at the top of the stairs. Johnny and Miguel smiled when they saw her.

She made her way down the stairs and stopped in front of the podium.
"My name is Alana Chambers. I was in the school fight. I was the one that got kicked off the second floor. I, uh, I thought I was gonna be paralyzed. I relearned how to stand. I relearned how to walk. And I want the tournament to continue." Alana said.
"We are very happy for your recovery, young lady. But I'm afraid you don't understand-" Roberts started.

"Yes, she does," Miguel said getting up and walking to his girlfriend.
"She's right. We're the ones fighting, we're the ones getting hurt. Our voices should matter the most. And we want a place where we can compete, fairly and safely." Sam added, joining the two at the podium.

"When I was younger, I was bullied. And growing up, I realized that there's no escaping it. There's always going to be a kid who wants to steal your lunch money, or give you a wedgie or give you a swirlie," Alana said.
