At the hospital, Alana was being rushed with doctors. Carmen, Rosa, and Johnny immediately drove to the Hospital.
"Oh, Miguel! You're alright!" Carmen cried, wrapping her son in her arms. Johnny stood off to the side watching the interaction. "Mama, it's Lani." he said in a soft tone, tears streaming down his face.

"You've seen your fair share of these. So you know the next 24 hours are critical." The doctor said to Carmen. Carmen nodded her head, "But she's gonna pull through, right?" Johnny asked, his voice cracking. The doctor looked at Johnny sympathetically. "We're doing everything we can." She replied.
"i'm so sorry." Johnny said as the Diaz' let got off each, Miguel already shaking his head but Carmen looked at the man. "Sorry? Sorry?" She started, "Mama-" Miguel was cut off again, "Alana is a sweet girl, Miggy said she avoided fights. Now look what you did. I never want to see you again." she said before walking away
"Sensei.." Miguel started, Johnny waved him off, "Go with your mom." he sighed before nodding and walking away.

Johnny found the room alana was in and felt tears in his eyes. He felt his phone in his pocket and pulled it out, remembering she called him earlier and left a voicemail. He shakily clicked on play and brought the phone to his ear.
"Hey sensei, It's alana. I wanted to ask how your date went. I hope it went good, I tried telling Miguel how i felt, even wrote a letter, maybe i might give it to him. I'll come by the dojo after school. So maybe we could grab a burger at that place you like? I'll talk to you later."

Miguel asked his mom to drop him off at alana's place, though she was hesitant she knew that he needed it.
He walked inside to see the clean place. He remembered the first time he walked inside, he stared at it with amazement.
He walked to her room and sat on her bed. Miguel saw a small white teddy bear that had a baby pink bow on it, Miguel smiled and grabbed it, holding it to his chest. He then looked on her nightstand and saw a framed picture of alana and her mom, and another one with both alana and Miguel.
He smiled and picked it up, he had his arm around her waist, his hand sitting on her hip, while his other hand was placed on her back. Alana had her hands on his chest with a big smile on their faces. He smiled at it before putting it back but only to see a paper taped to the back of the frame. He ripped it off, soon opening it to see it was addressed to him. He was completely silent and confused, so he read it.
"Dear Mig, I wanted to say this when you came over that one night but you told me that you and Tory kissed. I said i forgot but really i didn't. When we were together at the mall i wanted to tell you that i like you, as in like like. But then Tory interrupted. I don't know if i should be upset about that part, but eh. you've made me smile, laugh and so much more. I never felt this way before so now that i'm accepting it, i feel way better. Hopefully I'll give you this someday. I guess i'm too scared to 'strike first' but i can try. i've liked you ever since i met you. Even when you were with Sam i liked you, but i'd rather be upset than not see you smile anymore. Hopefully you feel the same way, honestly i hope. kinda sucks seeing someone you love, love someone else. alright, see you later Mig -Love, lani"
Miguel was crying, but he did have a smile on his face. He got his phone out and texted his mom, saying he'll be staying here at her place. He held the note to his chest and layed down, slowly closing his eyes. Soon getting to bed.
