Chapter 28

I woke up with a start.Not that I was sleeping or anything but I had managed to reach a mental state of calmness,with Edward lying on my side,his hands around me and I was so serene,just like sleeping.

My head snapped to the door where Renesmee was standing,tears flowing down her rosy chicks.

I was beside her in a second,wrapping my hands around her small body.''What are you doing here honey?What's wrong?Why are you crying?Are you harmed?''

The questions kept coming,slipping from my tongue without my permission.

Two steady hands were on my shoulders all of a sudden making me close my mouth shut.I turned to see Edward eyeing Renesmee intently.

I, on the other hand, couldn't see her face 'cause she was hiding it on my shoulder.''What's wrong with her?''I asked Edward because Nessie was clearly not in the position to answer me.

''Umh,yeah.About that...I don't know love...you're shielding her''

Ah,oh.I hadn't noticed.Mother instinct I guess... 

I let my shield drop and Edward immediately relaxed behind me.I even heard him chuckle.

''Renesmee sweetie,what's wrong?''I asked again,this time less worried.

She pulled her head away from my shoulder and faced me.Her beautiful brown eyes were staring in mine.''I had a nightmare momma and I was so scared''She whispered,surprising me when she did that instead of using her gift.

I pulled her in my arms again and I stood heading to the bed.Once we were sitting I adjusted her in a comfortable position on my lap and started brushing her tangled long hair with my fingers.

''It's okay honey,it was just a bad dream.You are alright.''I cooed to her kissing her forehead.Edward came to sit behind me on the king size bed,wrapping his hands around us both.

''I was at the woods ,alone, and I was running and running but going nowhere and I stopped running after realising that I didn't know why or where I was running to...''She said tears threatening to fall again.

I froze.

No.Way.This was not possible.Her dream was...My dream.I used to see the exact same thing every single night back when Edward left me.But how was that possible?What did it mean?

''It's fine baby,it was just a bad dream,no need to worry about it''Edward said to Renesmee.

I didn't say anything.Just stood there trying to think if her dream had something to do with mine or if it was just a creepy coincidence.

Edward for once in his whole life didn't notice the change of my features nor my stiff position,too preoccupied with calming down Ness.

I decided to forget about it,or rather put it in the back of my head,to go through later.

''Yeah,it's oka-Wait! How did you get here?I thought you dad left you sleeping at the main house?!''

''I ran here,after waking up and finding out you weren't there.''

As in a cue,Alice burst through the open door,a worried expression on her face that was quickly replaced with a scowl as soon as she laid eyes to Renesmee in my arms.

''Arg,Ness!Don't do that again! I was so worried,why did you run away so fast?I almost had a heart attack when I realised you were gone''Alice mumbled.

''She had a bad nightmare and she got scared.''Edward answered and Alice relaxed visibly and a concerned expresion crossed her face.

''Oh,are you okay now honey?Do you want to go back home?Your Gran made you ''She asked Ness.
