Ever since they had graduated from high school, their little friend group had been scattered across the continent. Veronica and Reggie were gone two days after graduation already, on their flight to New York. Toni and Cheryl left soon after in order to get to their prestigious Highsmith University. Fangs and Sweet Pea disappeared to some community college and Betty was on a road trip over the summer before going off to Harvard. Archie had joined the army for three years and so, Jughead was left alone in stupid Iowa where he went to university.

With being away from another, meeting up was always hard, especially as the whole group. However, sometimes, when they were in luck, it was possible for them to meet up.

Just like today.

Beach day.

Jughead was not a fan of beaches. It was sunny and crowded and hot and sandy.

All the things that he hated.

But; it was what the majority had decided on this fine August Saturday afternoon, so he reluctantly had to agree.

As Archie parked the car in front of the beach, Jughead could only groan, the sun glaring in his face. He squeezed his eyes shut before pulling down his cap, though he only found relieve once Archie put his sunglasses over his eyes.

"You look like a disgruntled sea turtle, Jughead" He teased as he grabbed their things from the trunk "Can't you appreciate the beauty of a sunny beach day?"

"I hate the beach though" The man grumbled, leaning against his boyfriend for support "Why couldn't we have just met up at our garden again? That was nice the last time"

"Because, dear grumpy sea turtle, we wanted to switch things up a bit. And what's better than chilling at the beach with friends?"

"But I hate sand" Jughead whined, reaching for Archie's hand to intertwine their fingers as the other walked closer "There were countless other options between our garden and the beach"

"I know, babe, but trust me, it won't be that bad. We'll just sit under our umbrella, have a nice picnic, maybe take a dip in the ocean, and spend quality time with our friends. It'll be fun, I promise, mhm?"

"For you" Jughead grumbled, though then started walking with a heavy sigh. He walked cautiously over the dunes, making sure that he wouldn't get any sand in his boots while looking out for their friends — they were, once again, late, because Archie had forgotten sunscreen and Jughead wasn't going to remind him on it.

When they arrived at the small blanket isle from the rest of the group, Jughead just watched as Archie dropped his three bags before laying out their blanket for Jughead to sit on without having to touch the sand.

"There, my prince, your royal chair awaits"

"Ha-Ha" Jughead replied, though he couldn't help the soft smile as he pulled his boyfriend down to murmur a soft thank in their kiss, his hand still resting on the collar of Archie's tank top.

"Anything for you, you know that" The redhead murmured, pulling away slightly.

It still caused Toni to chuckle softly.

"You two just never change, do you?" She asked, already in a bikini as she leaned against her girlfriend, the tips of her hair still damp "Still the same cuties as in High School"

Under a blush, Jughead got busy with laying out their food and drinks while Archie pulled up the wind breaker. Once done, Archie settled down next to his boyfriend, earning a shriek from him.
