Chapter 16: The Garnet Kingdom

Katsuki couldn't be in the hall whilst the Omega Prince had breakfast with another shitty Alpha. No, he would definitely not be doing that. At least he had time with his Omega this afternoon to look forward to. The Alpha therefore needed to occupy himself elsewhere. With that thought in his mind he knew that it was time to speak with his parents regarding what he had seen between the half-and-half bastard and his Father.

The blond Prince made his way to his and his parents' guest chambers. They were being well looked after here, but he did miss home. The sooner he could return the better, with his Omega. Yes, that would make that even more appealing. To be able to replay their shared dreams together but actually in his bed.

He had enjoyed seeing Prince Midoria blush at the thought of the dream last night. To think that this whole time the Omega had been fully aware of what they were doing, and had been happy to go alone with it too!

He knocked gently on the door to their shared chambers before entering. Their suit was split into three separate areas, a large communal space with two bedroom chambers on either side. His parents were currently positioned around a desk by the large marble fireplace. He immediately noticed a rare concerned expression on his mother's face.

"Mother, Father, What's the matter?" Katsuki asked as he made his way quickly across the room and peered at the papers spread out across the desk.

"Ah Katsuki, there you are," it was Masaru who spoke, "we need to speak with you regarding the Garnet Kingdom. Your mother and I might have to leave early."

"What, why? What has happened at home? Is everything ok? Do we need to leave?"

"You don't," it was his mother this time, "but we must. There have been reports of attacks close to our borders. With the Royal family here, the Onyx Kingdom must have seen it as an opportunity. We thought to reinforce the border whilst away, but it seems to have had no effect. Katsuki, you need to stay here and complete the final trial, we will leave your guards here with you. The final trial is tomorrow so it won't be long."

Katsuki felt conflicted. He was the Crown Prince of the Garnet Kingdom, one of their strongest knights. The thought of not defending his home was unthinkable. Yet, if he chose to leave before the final trial, he would lose his fated mate. He knew what he had to do. He only hoped that his people would understand. His father was a powerful Alpha, he would be able to defend the Kingdom. Katsuki would put his faith and trust in his parents.

"You go, both of you. I will win the final trial and return as soon as I can," he had to stay optimistic, there was no room for doubt in his mind, "I can't leave here without my fated mate."

"I know that this isn't easy for you, son. Hopefully all will be well and you won't have to rush home. You need to stay focused on the hunt tomorrow. You need a clear head," Masaru rested his hand on his son's shoulder as he spoke, "spend some time training with those rambunctious guards of yours. They will know how to refocus that clever mind of yours. I am proud of you, you will do great tomorrow."

Katsuki looked at his father, he could only hope of living up to his legacy when it was his turn to take the crown. "I will find time, Father. I was hoping to see Prince Midoria this afternoon. I was going to ask to see his Library." The Alpha Prince glanced between his parents, suddenly remembering the reason he had come to speak with them, "I need to talk with you both about something quite concerning actually. It's the reason that I came here. I know that you have a lot on your plate, but I'm not sure what to do about what I saw."

His mother took a step towards him, "what did you see? Is it Prince Midoria? Is he ok?"

"No, this had nothing to do with him. It is regarding Prince Todoroki and his father." His mother looked at his father, it did not go unnoticed. "Do you know something?" He could feel his heart rate rising, but was confused as to the reason. Was he going soft? He hated the Half-and-half bastard.
