~~~~~~"We had his transcripts from high faxed over." I kind of hung back and let Tre handle everything. It wasn't that I was incapable of handling my own business. Tre was just more polished and understood some words, I had trouble even pronouncing at times. I respected people who spoke adequately. I wasn't some uneducated fool, but there's things I could practice on. It's never too late to sharpen up your skills. Tre says the brain is forever helping us unlock knowledge and exciting things about ourselves.
We saw the world through different perspectives.
I view Tre as a very intelligent person. He was patient with me and for that I loved him even more.
While he spoke with the administration. I walked the halls. I briefly read over some success stories of people who went through this process and graduated. Some even went on to have promising careers. I want to believe that I can be too but no matter how better things get. My past sometimes refuses to release my mind from the shackles of thinking failure is just around the corner.
I've always thought outside the box or just avoided it all together. Ambition is something I was familiar with but never actually felt I had.
If these people could make it happen, why can't I?
Tre was off today but was complaining about a headache and sore throat. Still, he refused to let me come here alone. He just bundled up in layers of clothes and sipped on hot tea, with lemon and honey. Once everything was in motion for me to begin in a couple weeks. He overlook everything a few times, until he was satisfied. Then he took my birth certificate and social security card from me. He put it with his stuff and locked it away in a small file cabinet. "Think you my daddy?"
He smirked. "Sometimes."
I laugh and he tries to but stops to hold his head. "My bad baby. Let me help you to bed."
I carry him to the bed. He takes his medicine, then slowly lays down. I close the door quietly.
Then I clean up, put clothes in the washing machine and put some chicken in the sink to thaw out. I was going to search how to make Tre a homemade soup.
I took a seat on the couch and called Rain. Something must be wrong with my phone. I try again, but it's not letting me. "Strange." I say quietly.
We talk at least a couple times out the week. I haven't heard anything. I was starting to worry. Maybe, I could stop by his place. Tre would be sleep for a while after taking that medicine. I put on my shoes, jacket and kiss Tre on the forehead. He mumbled something and turns over. "Cute ass." I would hit it from the side real quick but his head hurt. I smile at him. Then I grab the keys and head out.
I make sure to send him a text. So when he wakes, he knows when I'm at. This whole communication thing really does work.
I scroll through my phone to find when Rain sent me his address.
It doesn't take me long to arrive at his house. It's a decent size and his lawn was well maintained. I wouldn't expect anything less from Rain. I try calling one last time but still nothing. I exit the car and make my way to the front door. Just as I'm about to knock, I hear a car pull up. I turn to see Zell, jumping out. "He ain't here."
