"My client already answered your question."
"You maybe didn't do it but you were there." Detective Andrew taps her red nails on the table.
"Genius observation detective, being as how we are all aware you have solid proof my client within proximity of the crime scene. This is not a case of rather or not he was in the area but if he committed this crime."
"Yes. I agree." She gives me a taunting smile. "Protecting the people who nearly killed you seems illogical."
"My client was the victim of a random attack."
She laughs. "Random? We know the people who attacked you was your old crew. What you do to piss them off?"
My lawyer gives me the okay to answer.
"I have no idea what or who you are referring to."
She slams her hands on the table. "I call bull shit but I see Lawson prepped you well for this interrogation."
"Detective, be careful of your next action. If I feel my client is being threatened,"
"I got it, okay." She cuts him off.
"This was someone's grandmother, someone's mother and wife. She was robbed, viscously attacked and murdered." She walks the room. "If that wasn't enough, her body was buried under an abandoned bride, left to decay, alone with no family members knowing where she was."
"Sad and I feel for them, I do. Still, it ain't got shit to do with me."
"Yeah, well we at least can still arrest your ass for violating your probation." The detective knocks on the door and in walks a police officer.
"No no, wait. Hold on now officer, Detective Andrew this is not what was discussed if my client cooperated." My lawyer is on his feet, blocking the cop from arresting me.
"If, he cooperated. He hasn't given me one thing to go off."
"Because he doesn't know."
"Him being there makes him an accessory to murder. Plus, he helped hide the body."
"That is hearsay. You do not have concrete evidence he was. My client will walk out of here with me or you will be prosecuted for an unlawful arrest."
"Unlawful, I have probable cause."
"Cute. You're going to have to do better. Officer, release my client." The cop looks over to the detective.
She nods. "For now Mr. King. Don't get too comfortable, because I'm gonna nail your ass to the fucking wall. I'm going for the max time you can get. We don't need ruthless thugs like you on these streets."

Lawson tried his best to assure me that I wouldn't go to jail until my appointed day. I hadn't mentioned it to Tre yet but I knew I had to tell him soon. We only had about two more weeks together and I'd have to serve one year.
One year was better than fifteen to twenty years. The old lady was already dead when I got to the bridge that night. Flip swore he didn't partake in her being beaten to death and I prayed to God he didn't but I wasn't sure. There was so much blood that night, I threw up. Marty was calling me a bitch and saying if I didn't help dispose of the body I wasn't really family.
Flip and me fought that night because I first broke the news I wanted out. Flip really was like my brother and I would do anything for him, just as my biological siblings. The only reason the detective knew I was near the crime scene is because my cellphone pinged at a nearby tower. They just weren't able to put me precisely at that exact location. I never touched the ladies body, so that helped me. I did assist with digging the hole but we burned the wood from the shovels and took the other pieces to get scrapped.
