~~~~~~~I sit on the edge of the bed reading over the text.
Flip: makin sure u got in safe. Good seeing u
Islan is sleeping peacefully but my head is spinning into all kinds of scenarios. Why did his phone have to be closer when I reached to check the time. I usually would ignore his text messages but it was from Flip.
I sit his phone down by him, and go into the bathroom to prepare myself for the day. When I exit the room, Boon is also coming out of his.
"Sup Tre?"
"Good morning." I say dryly and make my way to the kitchen.
"Didn't sleep good?" He takes the juice from the refrigerator and drinks out the carton.
I would normally scold him but he finished it off and tossed it. "I slept fine."
"Why that face? You always cheerful and annoyin as fuck in the mornin."
"Did Flio go out with you Islan last night?"
"What?" Boon appears nervous.
"You heard me Boon. Was he there?"
He sighs. "Can you talk to yo nigga bout that? I really ain't tryna get caught up in this."
"Fuck." I walk to the sink. "He was there."
"They ain't do shit."
"Thought you was getting in it?"
"I ain't, but I thought you should know that nothin went down. They just talked." I wanted to believe Boon and I trusted him but how far would he go to protect his brother?
"Is that the whole reason he went out with you? Was all this stuff weighing so much on him that my support wasn't enough? He needed Flip?"
Boon shrugs. "I think he just had wanted to see him. He just missed him."
"But he was sneaky about it."
"Cause he ain't believe you would let him see Flip any other way. Still don't make the shit right."
I feel myself becoming a bit angry. "No, I wouldn't. But not because I want to keep him away from his friend. It's because Flip wants more than friendship."
"Yeah. Look, you ain't wrong. If that nigga can't keep shit friendly then he gotta just reminisce about the how shit was." Boon made me feel heard.
"Tre!" I hear Islan's voice calling from the bedroom.
"I don't even wanna go in there."
"Don't." Boon takes out some breakfast food. "I can cook breakfast. You decide what you wanna do."
I stand at the counter contemplating. Then with little convincing, I make my way back into the bedroom. Islan has the pillow over his head. "Yes?"
