~~~~~"Run Ebony Run!" I screamed as Ebony was running around to third base. Egypt had striked out and I was on second base, and Pea was in field, second base. She wanted to be on Islan's team, along her boyfriend and other people from Islan's job.
Boon was now up to bat. He taps the bat on home plate, then points to outer field. Islan waves him off. Boon spits. He bends needs his knees, elbows bent and tucked close to his side. He pivots on his back toe. He watches for the pitch.
Islan stands with his hands behind his back at the pitchers mound. The catcher is one of their new friends from work. The catcher does a signal and Islan nods. He steps back, lifts up one foot, pulling the ball back almost behind him. He releases it simultaneously as he extends his body forward.
It goes fly at fast speeds but Boon doesn't hit it, or even flinch. He shakes his head.
"Ball." The umpire yells out.
"No good." Boon yells to Islan.
Islan smirks. I found out immediately they are very competitive. It was sweet watching Islan and his family together again. It was even more fun watching them all engage in friendly banter.
The second time Islan didn't rush the pitch but as he was going to pull back, one of their co-worker tried stealing second but Islan threw the ball to Pea and she quickly caught it and pushed it into Ebony.
"Out!" The umpire yells.
"Ahh man." Ebony kicks the dirt.
Pea and Islan taunt her. "Betta luck next time baby sis."
I give her a hug when she enters the dug out. "It's okay."
"But stuttin them." She takes off her hat.
We all watch through the fence as Boon prepares for the next pitch.
Islan's more relaxed and Boons posture is perfect. Islan lifts his foot, pulls the ball and glove to his side and extends his body forward as he releases the ball.
The moment it's near Boon the bat connects with it making a shattering sound. It goes flying through the air. Boon slangs the bat to the ground and takes off to first base. He flys past first and on to second as the ball soars high in the air, with no chance of being caught.
He slows down and starts jogging backwards to third. Islan stands at the pitchers mound smirking as his brother shows off. Boon yawns and stretches as he now walks to home plate.
"Nigga you got lucky."
Be fa real big bro. I does this." He steps on home plate.
Me, Ebony, Egypt and two other teammates cheer.
"We won!" I jump up and down with Ebony. Then we all rush out on the girls to hug Boon. We jump on him, and he falls down to the ground with us on top of him.
"So?" He looks at me as we all sit down in the grass.
"Thank for learning me see you play." He smiled shyly. "Boon, you truly are a professional baseball player."
