"Snivy, use Vine Whip!" Ash commanded.
The vines charged at Dewott, but Hilbert was quick to counter, "Stop that with X-Scissor!"
"Dew!" Dewott fired the X-shaped attack.
"Snivy, dodge using your vines!" Ash wasn't discouraged.
"Sniiiivy!" Snivy pushed itself into the air.
"Smart Ash," Hilbert smirked at his opponent.
Ash had a confident grin, "Snivy, go for a Leaf Blade!" Snivy's tail glowed green.
"Dewott, Razor Shell!" Hilbert ordered. Dewott leaped into the air and grabbed one of its Scalchop. The otter's shell turned into a blue blade to counter the Leaf Blade. They snarled at each other when their blades met.
"Backflip!" Ash and Hilbert said at the same time.
"Sni!" Snivy flipped backward.
"Dew!" Dewott did the same.
Neither took their eyes off the other. "They're neck and neck!" Iris couldn't take her eyes off their battle either.
"Snivy and Dewott match each other blow for blow," Cilan couldn't deny that the rivalry was exciting.
"We might be here for a while," Benga joked.
"C'mon, Ash!" May cheered for her boyfriend.
"Do it, Hilbert!" Hilda encouraged her friend.
The two girls exchanged fiery stares. They seemed to forget about their friendship in that instance. "Calm down, we're all friends here," a nervous Bianca tried to ease the tension.
"Pikachu," Pikachu was surprised by how devoted Hilda and May were to the boys. Victini looked back and forth between Hilda and May. It couldn't understand the reason for the passion between them.
"Snivy, use your vines to push yourself forward. Then strike with Leaf Blade!" Ash instructed. Snivy launched itself almost like a slingshot, its aim set for Dewott.
"Dewott, stop Snivy with Ice Beam," Hilbert smiled. Dewott used the chilly attack without hesitation.
"Make it trip with your vines!" Ash saw his chance. Just before Ice Beam could hit, Snivy grabbed Dewott's legs with its vines, making Dewott fall on its back by pulling it up. The Ice Beam shot into the sky. Hilbert's jaw opened in shock. As Ash predicted, Snivy's Overgrow activated. "Now Leaf Blade!" Ash pumped his fist.
"Dewott!" Hilda panicked for her friend.
"Snivy just got a power-up!" Iris realized.
"I take back what I said," Benga chuckled. No one expected Overgrow to come into play.
May matched Ash's confidence, "That's my Ash!"
"Sniiiiiiivvvvvyyyyy!" Snivy's voice echoed through the stadium when it slammed Dewott with Leaf Blade.
"Deeew!" Dewott got struck so hard that its body made a small crater.
"Dewott!" Hilbert was stunned when he saw his unconscious friend.
"Dewott is no longer able to battle. The victory goes to Ash and Snivy!" Don George proclaimed.
Hilbert mustered a defeated smile, "You were awesome, Dewott. Thank you." Hilbert returned the otter.
