"Welcome one and all to the final round of the Tao Competition. As you may already know, the prize for the competition gets chosen by the winner. The choices are the Yin Badge for anyone who wishes to compete in the Unova League or the Yang Ribbon for those who wish to compete in the Grand Festival. Our final competitors are the skilled Ash Ketchum and the lovely May. Please give them a roar of a welcome!" the caster announced.
The audience cheered when May and Ash emerged from opposite ends, waving at the spectators. The two then got into their positions and smiled at each other. On the battlefield, they were rivals. Victini sat on May's shoulder while Pikachu stood by Ash's side. They waited for Don George to make the announcement.
Don George recited and ended with, "Begin!"
"Pikachu, you're up, pal," Ash turned to his friend.
"Pikapi pika," Pikachu hurried onto the field.
"You're so predictable," May sneered with a Pokéball in hand.
Ash smirked, "I know you only have one Pokémon on you that can go toe-to-toe with Pikachu."
"And that's all I need!" an enthusiastic May threw her Pokéball.
In front of May stood her oldest Pokémon, "Blaziken!" the Pokémon shouted and fired up the flames on its wrists. Pikachu and Blaziken flashed sly smiles at each other. They were ready to battle til the end.
"This will be fun," Ash made a fist.
"Oh my! I can feel the spice from here," Cilan tugged on the collar of his shirt.
"Let's go, guys!" Iris swung her fist in excitement.
"Axew ew ax!" Axew mimicked his trainer.
"Pikachu, use Quick Attack!" Ash pointed at Blaziken.
"Pikaaaa," Pikachu jetted off toward Blaziken.
"Blaziken, use Fire Spin to defend yourself!" May commanded.
"Blaze!" Blaziken lifted its head into the air, letting the spiral stream of fire envelope his body.
Unfortunately for Ash and Pikachu, Quick Attack was blocked by the improvised Fire Spin, and the mouse flinched back from the fire's sting. "Pika!" Pikachu blew on its paw from the hot touch.
"Pikachu, are you alright?" Ash showed concern. Pikachu recomposed itself when Blaziken's Fire Spin shield burst in all directions. The flames vanished as a result.
"Surprised you with that, didn't I, Ash?" May smiled at him.
"You sure did, using our speed against us like that," Ash chuckled.
"Well, it wouldn't be fun if you knew all my moves," May winked at him.
Ash adjusted his hat, "Can't argue with that, but we're just getting started. Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!" Pikachu got on two feet, compressed its body, and yelled. A fierce lightning bolt targeted Blaziken.
"Blaziken, dodge it!" May countered. Blaziken jumped into the air about 30 stories high.
"Whoa, it's almost like it can fly!" Iris shouted.
