chapter nineteen

My hands trembled slightly as I held my position near the back of the church, trying to stay out of sight while watching the drama unfold. The atmosphere was charged with tension, every eye in the room fixed on the unfolding confrontation.

As the footage concluded, the guests were still murmuring in shock when Mr. Park, Jay’s father, stormed up to Jaehyuk with a fierce expression. His voice boomed over the hushed crowd, cutting through the chaos.

“Jaehyuk, I knew you were up to something, but this—this is beyond anything I could have imagined!” Mr. Park’s face was flushed with anger. “You wanted to destroy my company, and for what? To take over what was never yours to begin with?”

Jaehyuk stood there, his face a mix of defiance and jealousy. “You don’t understand, Mr. Park. I’ve worked just as hard. I’ve sacrificed so much! Jay doesn’t even want the company. Why should he get it while I’m left with nothing?”

Mr. Park’s expression darkened. “Jay doesn’t want it because he doesn’t need it. He’s not driven by greed or power. This company was meant for him, not for you to exploit and tear apart!”

Jaehyuk’s eyes narrowed with frustration. “You think you’ve been so fair and righteous? All the opportunities and privileges went to Jay while I was left in the shadows. You never saw what I could offer. It’s not fair!”

Before Mr. Park could respond, Chowon’s parents were already moving towards the scene.

Chowon’s father, visibly enraged, shoved Jaehyuk, his anger boiling over. “You’ve humiliated my daughter! This wedding was supposed to be her day, and you turned it into a nightmare!”

In a moment of sheer fury, Chowon’s father threw a punch at Jaehyuk, connecting with his jaw and sending him stumbling. The room erupted into chaos, with guests screaming and trying to distance themselves from the violence.

Heeseung, Jake, Sunghoon, and Sunoo quickly stepped in, attempting to defuse the situation.

“Mr. Park, let’s calm down!” Heeseung shouted, grabbing Mr. Park’s arm as Jake and Sunghoon moved to hold back Chowon’s father. “This isn’t helping anyone!”

Amid the commotion, Jungwon and Ni-ki were beside Chowon’s mother, who had collapsed into a fit of hyperventilation.

“Mrs. Kim, please breathe. It’s going to be alright,” Jungwon said urgently, trying to soothe her. Ni-ki stood by, watching with concern, both of them deeply worried about Chowon’s mother’s distress.

I watched the scene unfold with a heavy heart. The confrontation, the chaos, and the sheer intensity of the moment were overwhelming. I knew this was meant to reveal Jaehyuk’s true nature and free Chowon from his grasp, but the price was steep, and the pain was visible on everyone’s faces.

As the situation began to settle, with Mr. Park and Chowon’s parents being restrained and Jaehyuk being led away by security, I could only hope that this confrontation would bring some resolution and relief to everyone affected.

The chaos was slowly subsiding, but Jaehyuk’s fury was far from quelled.

He struggled against the security guards, his face twisted in rage.

“This isn’t fair! None of this is fair!” he shouted, his voice echoing through the now silent church. His eyes were fixed on Jay, who stood nearby, his expression a mixture of exhaustion and sadness. “You think you’re so much better than me, don’t you? You get everything handed to you while I’ve had to fight for scraps! And now, you have the nerve to take everything from me?”
