chapter sixteen

The sun was setting over Hawaii, casting a warm orange glow across the hotel’s lobby where we were preparing for our mission.

Everyone was buzzing with nervous energy, trying to get into the right mindset for the upcoming wedding crash.

Amidst the chaos, laughter and banter echoed through the room, providing a much-needed distraction from the seriousness of our task.

Sunhee was the center of attention. Every time she tried to handle the various tasks assigned to her, something went hilariously wrong.

First, she managed to spill an entire box of supplies, scattering everything across the floor.

As she tried to clean up the mess, she knocked over a stack of papers, causing a domino effect that ended with her tangled in a mess of cables.

“Sunhee, are you alright?” Kiara asked, her voice tinged with concern as she stifled a giggle.

She was already on her way to help Sunhee untangle herself. Sunhee’s face turned a deep shade of red with embarrassment.

“I’m fine, just a bit clumsy today,” she said, her voice edged with frustration.

She tried to brush off the incident, but her flustered expression was a clear giveaway of her irritation.

Heeseung, her boyfriend and always the overprotective partner, was hovering nearby with an anxious look. “Sunhee, are you sure you’re okay? You’ve had a rough day. Maybe you should take a break or—”

“I’m fine, Hee,” Sunhee interrupted, attempting to stand up. “I don’t need to sit out. I just need to get my act together.”

Sunoo, leaning against a table with an amused expression, rolled his eyes at Heeseung’s over-the-top concern. “Heeseung, give her a break. She’s handling it just fine. If anyone needs a break, it’s you from all this fretting.”

Heeseung shot Sunoo a look of frustration. “It’s not just about fretting. I just don’t want her to get hurt or make things worse.”

Minji, always the loud and cheerful one, decided to step in with her trademark enthusiasm.

She grabbed Sunhee’s hand and pulled her into a playful hug. “You’re doing great, Sunhee! Consider this a practice run for the real chaos later. We need your energy.”

Kiara, trying to add a bit of levity to the situation, joined in with a grin. “And if anyone needs a disaster relief expert, we definitely know who to call. Your skills are unparalleled, Sunhee.”

As Sunhee attempted to laugh off the comments, she accidentally knocked over a tray of snacks that had been precariously balanced on a nearby table.

Chips and pretzels went flying in every direction, creating a small snack explosion that landed some of them on her head like an impromptu hat.

The room erupted into laughter. Sunhee stood there, frozen with a bowl of chips on her head, her embarrassment palpable. The sight of her standing amidst the scattered snacks was too much, and too cute for everyone to handle.

“Maybe I should just sit this one out,” Sunhee said, her tone a mix of seriousness and resignation.

Her attempt to lighten the mood only made her look even more endearing.

“No way!” Minji said, her voice lively and reassuring as she grabbed Sunhee’s hand. “You’re an essential part of this operation, even if you’re our official klutz. We need you on board.”
