Spending Christmas back home with my family was lovely, it really made me realise how much I had missed them. Christmas day was amazing, I got a new Apple Mac Laptop which was absolutely incredible as I would never ask for something so expensive. My parents said it was especially for University work. We had a lovely Christmas dinner and my younger cousins came to visit which was so lovely to see them again. I treated them more as siblings than my cousins. MY parents still believed that I had never had a boyfriend which was a very good thing and my Dad had a work promotion whilst I was away which I was so proud of him for. I didn't really get along with my dad but I was very proud, he'd worked so hard and he really deserved it. Even though I had such a magical Christmas with my family, Josh never left my mind. I missed him, I missed him a lot. After Christmas, I would be leaving on New Years Eve to be back in London for the party organised by Jaymie and Jessie. I couldn't wait, I could go back to being myself, dropping the act.
I opened the curtains to see a blanket of white covering the garden and that could only mean one thing, snow! I know I'm 19 and i'm in university but no one is ever too young to go and play in the snow. I took a quick shower, putting on my jeans, a jumper and my warm coat. I wrapped my scarf around my neck and plopped a hat on my head. I slid my wellies on my feet and was about to walk out of the back door when the door bell rang.
"Rach can you answer the door please, I'm a little busy"
I sighed and trudged over to the front door, turning the handle and pulling the door towards me. I looked to see Jaymi stood in his hoodie, his jeans, his body warmer and his wellies. Seeing him made me smile, we'd been so busy doing University work so we hand't really had much time to see each other.
"What are you doing here?" I asked with a giggle, wrapping my arms around Jaymi.
"I'm here to spend a snow day with my best friend" he replied.
I invited him into the house, my mum greeting him with a hug and a smile but my dad just giving him a little 'hello' as we walked through the kitchen and into the back garden. We built the most amazing snowman, having photo's taken with him and decorating him with my scarf and my hat. After having a quick snowball fight we headed up to my room, Jaymi helping me to get my things together in my case which was one thing I was hopeless at.
"So you and Josh are..."
"Josh and I are not really speaking Jaymi..."
"I know but..."
"He's the one ignoring me, he wont even let me explain"
"And you miss him"
"I don't I..."
"Don't lie Rach, I know you too well!"
"So what if I do miss him, is it a bad thing?"
"Not at all..."
"So what about you and Olly then? Things going well?" I asked, trying to change the subject.
"Amazing Rach, I've come out to my family, well they said they'd kinda guessed anyway, but I'm just so happy" he said, a smile on his face.
It made me happy knowing that he was happy with Olly. They were perfect together. I spent the rest of the night with Jaymi, talking and laughing, uploading the photo's to Facebook and having conversations with JJ and Jessie about who's snowman was the best. Jaymi left early because we had a busy day tomorrow. It was New Years Eve and you know what that means, back to Hope University, back to laughing, back to my friends, back to the heartbreak and back to Josh.
After an exhausting 6 hour journey on cars, trains and a bus we arrived back at Hope. Looking at my new watch from Jaymi, I realised we were quite late 3 O'Clock in the afternoon, the others were sure to be here by now. It was empty, most of the students still at home spending the New Year with their families. Getting our keys back from the depressing receptionist, we made our way back to our rooms. I said a goodbye to Jaymi in the hallway as he made his way to the room to get ready for the party. Dragging my case behind me, I slipped my key in and out of the lock, pushing the door open. I dropped my bags, opening my arms for my friends to run into.
