It was so much better having my friends back around me, although I still felt Josh's absence. He still refused to believe that Sophie had lied and that I wasn't the villain everyone thought I was but I learned to accept that. I returned to my normal phase of being last in for lunch and every day they seemed to be discussing and then would hush when I came anywhere near. If I asked them about it, they just told me to stop being silly and then one of them would change the subject. I'd love to know what they were up too.
The smell of burn toast and washing up liquid woke me up in the morning, the sunlight shining through my window. I woke up and stretched knowing that today was the day that me and the others all had free periods until last lesson. I got up and walked past Lucie, her towel wrapped around her as she'd just come out of the shower.
"Morning Rach!" she said, a smile on her face.
"Morning hun" I replied.
I walked into the bathroom, locking the door behind me and taking off my shorts and my T-shirt. I stepped into the shower, rubbing the shower gel over my body. I then stepped out, wrapping the white fluffy towel around me and made my way over to the wardrobe. I changed into my black tights, a dress and my knitted cardigan with my straight hair perfectly in place for a change.
"You coming sitting in the common room?" Asked Jessie as we walked down the hallway into the main building.
On this day each week when we all had free periods, we spent our time in the common room, laughing and joking, talking about the weeks events. I would have gone to join them but I had work to do in the library.
"I can't" I said with a sigh.
"What why?"
"My English calls" I said, with a giggle.
"Oh well, if you're sure" Lucie said, still smiling.
"I'm sure, I might catch you later though yeah?"
"Yeah! have fun doing your coursework, I'll see you later" the girls said as we parted our ways, me going one way heading for the library and them going the other way heading for the common room. As I walked over to the library, I could still hear the people whispering about me and how the others had started to talk to me. I'd learned to ignore them and to just take everything as it came to me, after all I was the only person who knew the truth.
"Good morning Rachel" said the Librarian as I walked into the room.
"Good Morning" I replied with a smile, taking my normal place in the corner of the room right by the window so that I could look outside at the different students getting on with their everyday life. As I put my head phones in my ears, I began to write the notes down from my revision book revising for my exams coming up in the next few months. For the first few hours, nobody bothered me. I just sat minding my own business and getting on with my work; what was most important to me right now. That was when my sheets and books were sweeped of the table and onto the floor. As I bent down to get them, a large foot was placed on them, the foot prints ruining three hours of hard work. As I slowly rose my head to see who had made it their priority to ruin my work, I saw Sophie's evil eyes looking over me, her pitiful smile and her laugh making me want to put my hands over my ears.
"Oh I'm sorry, didn't realise" she said, smirking.
It was obvious to me that she actually realised what she was doing.
"Thanks for that" I replied, giving her a haughty glance.
"Oh woopsies" she said, pressing her foot harder on my work, making the paper rip in two.
I looked up at her, shook my head and gathered my work together as she walked away with her group of witches, cackling as they walked out of the room. I sighed and picked up. Here's to another 3 hours spent in the library re-doing the work that I'd worked so hard on. I wish I knew what her problem was.
"Rach, Rach wake up" said a voice, shaking me.
My head rose from the table and I looked around. Outside the window it was just going dark and Jessie was stood next to me.
"What happened?" She asked.
"Sophie, that's what happened" I replied, taking out my work and showing her the damage that had been done.
"She did that?!? The bitch!"
I sighed and put the damaged work back in my folder. I wouldn't put it in the bin just incase it could be used as some form of evidence against her.
"Are you coming?" Jessie asked
"I can't, I need to get this finished"
"Well be up at the boys room for 5 yeah?"
"Of course, but why?"
"Oh you'll see"
I giggled and Jessie walked off, a spring in her step. What was she so happy about?
I spent the next hour working my socks off and I got the majority of the work done, foot print free. I carefully slid the work into the plastic wallets and put them in my folder, putting the folder in my bag. Picking my bag up and throwing it over my shoulder, I said goodbye to the Librarian and made my way over to the boys room. The cold winter wind hit my face, blowing my hair back and making me find it hard to breath.
"Where's your friends?" Said a voice behind me.
I turned to see Sophie, leaning against a wall with a horrible smirk on her face. As she came closer to me, the smell of smoke and alcohol came from her. I coughed, shielding my mouth from the smell and the taste.
"I'm just going to meet them" I replied.
Sophie came closer, coughing purposely in my face. I wafted her away, the smell making me want to be sick.
"What did Josh ever see in you?" I asked.
"Well, he was stupid enough to believe me wasn't he" she said with a giggle.
"Why Sophie?"
"Because you're an ugly bitch" she replied
"Oh grow up"
"You don't like me because I turned the whole school against you because you supposedly pushed me over and sprained my wrist, which we all know you didn't...makes me giggle actually"
My fists were clenched, I wanted to place one of them right by her face but the goodness in me told me not too. All of a sudden, my anger was stopped by a figure stood behind Sophie.
"Is that true?" Said the figure, walking forward.
As it came closer, Josh started to appear, Jaymi following closely behind him, a smile on his face.
"Oh...J...Josh...baby....I...."
"You lied to me" He said.
"I....I....didn't..."
"How could you?"
"I'm not lying"
"You've just admitted it Sophie"
"Yes but..."
"I actually loved you Soph, and you've hurt me again"
"But I...."
"Forget it, We're done"
"WHAT?" She shrieked.
"I think you heard" said Jaymi, stepping forward.
Sophie glanced at me, a smile on my face, then to Josh and then to Jaymi. She let out a loud sigh and ran away, knowing she'd been defeated. I looked at the Josh seeing the pain in his eyes.
"I'm sorry Josh" I whispered in his ear as I walked past him, my hand leaving his shoulder, making my way to the room to think to myself about what had happened.
