When I woke up, Lexi wasn't in the bed or anywhere in the room for that matter. I got dressed quickly and went in search of her. I found her, Kyle, and Simon all eating a dinner.
"You guys save me any?" I asked, sitting next to Simon. He pushed me a plate and I dug in. Food went flying everywhere and some splattered Lexi.
"Hey, watch where that's going ice brain!" she yelled, standing up. I stood up as well, ice forming in my hand. I was so ready for a fight and Lexi was too. The tension was even worse between us since last night. Even though I supported her, it bugged me in the back of my brain that she was lesbian. I'm sure it was bugging her too.
"Save it for Blue Cobra," Simon told us with a serious gaze. We sat back down and finished our dinner, glaring at each other all night. Lexi stood when she finished and walked to the window. The sun was almost completely gone, leaving the world a reddish color.
"We should go. Blue Cobra will be here soon," she said.
"We need a plan first," I responded.
"The plan is we go and we win a fight," Lexi told me, turning around.
"That won't hold up," I stood placing my hand on the table.
"Then you think of something better," Lexi snorted.
"Kyle summons Gemini and gets them to pose as one of Blue Cobra's men. We create a distraction while this happens. We go back to their hideout and take 'em down," I told them. Lexi fumed.
"It's a decent plan," she admitted.
"Uh, one problem Kk. Gemini doesn't listen to me," Kyle interjected.
"Are you kidding me? They love you," I told him. Kyle chuckled sarcastically.
"No, they love you. Just like the rest of my spirits. I wonder why you weren't the celestial wizard sometimes," Kyle mumbled the last part under his breath.
"Summon them anyway. I'm sure they'll listen," I encouraged. Kyle rolled his eyes and leaned back in his chair. His eyes slid close, then opened a sudden gold. That was the creepy part of his magic. His body acted as the key, so when he summoned a spirit his eyes glowed the color of the key. He's gotten much stronger and can summon two spirits at once now, three if it's only for a short time. He's even forcibly sent Loke back when he was here on his own magic once. Even Mama can't do that. Gemini appeared and danced around Kyle's head. He smiled at them.
"Hey guys! We need your help for this mission. Can we count on you?" Kyle asked. They popped into their favorite form, which was of Mama in a green tank top and miniskirt. She looked so young when she was 17.
"Of course you can! What do ya need today?" Gemini asked.
"We need you to pose as one of Blue Cobra's men so we have someone on the inside. We'll follow," Kyle explained. Gemini nodded.
"What are we waiting for then?" Lexi demanded. We carefully made our way outside and waited for Blue Cobra. It didn't take them long. Gemini was probably already in their ranks. My breathing stopped when I noticed who was in front of them.
"Ah, Katie. It's been far too long since we've last seen each other face to face," the blue haired man smirked at me. He still had the guild mark on his hand, but I knew what it was now.
"You're the Master of Blue Cobra?" I asked.
"No, no, no. You've got it wrong child. I'm the founder." He grinned at me and I gripped my hands in fists.
"Katie, do you know this man?" Simon asked.
"He's the guy we fought when we were finding Papa," I explained.
"Come now Katie. Be honest with him. We've been talking almost every night since." The blue haired man was really getting on my nerves now.
"More like haunting my dreams!" I yelled. I ran forward to land a punch, but he caught my hand effortlessly.
"And I thought we had an understanding," he shook his head at me. "My name's Akio, just so you know." He pushed me back and I fell. A cloud of dust rose around me and before I knew it, Akio was over me. I saw Simon in my peripheral vision and lay flat as he ran and caught Akio in the chest with his sword, sending him flying back. I jumped up quickly.
"Ice make canon!" I shot a arsenal of ice at Blue Cobra and the group scattered. Lexi dove in then. She had transformed into a jaguar and had fire shooting out of her claws. Kyle had summoned Loke and was fighting along side him. Kyle was actually better at hand to hand combat than anyone else in the guild, because he didn't have any other magic to fall back on. He was also an incredible acrobat, which helped when he was in the midst of fire, ice, swords, and other magic. I made ice blades on my elbows and fought my way through to him. We stood back to back, both taking deep breaths, but not panting yet.
"You ready?" I asked.
"I always am," he answered. We both dove right back in, quickly taking down the men surrounding us. Lexi got hit in the shoulder and flew across, hitting me and knocking us both down. She transformed back into her normal form and clutched her shoulder.
"Are you alright?" I asked. Blood was seeping through her fingers. She glared up at me.
"Well, let's see. There's blood on my hands, I was straight-zoned last night, and you're an idiot. Do I look okay?" Lexi asked, fire in her eyes. I ripped off an arm of my trench coat and wrapped it around the bleeding area.
"What the h**l are you doing?!? That was your old mans! Don't rip it up for me!" Lexi tried to push me away, but I froze her arms back and finished wrapping the wound.
"My old man would kill me if I let you bleed to death! It's just a coat!" I yelled back. I reached my hand out to help her up. She took it and jumped up. She pushed me down as a member of Blue Cobra shot a burst of magic. Lexi was forced into a brick wall and she slumped down.
"Idiot. Keep fighting," Lexi told me. I grinned and went right on fighting. It was me and Simon in the middle of the fray now. Kyle went to help Lexi and Loke had gone back to the spirit world. Kyle was sweating from the labor of two spirits out at once. Me and Simon stood back to back.
"Ready to try and unison raid again?" I asked.
"It's too dangerous here. If we don't do it, we could die," Simon responded.
"I think we can do it this time," I insisted. Simon hissed in frustration and grabbed my hand. Our magical power surged together.
"Ready?" he asked.
"I'm always ready," I responded. Simon's swords formed a perimeter around us and ice shards filled in the empty spaces. I felt my magic power draining quickly. I just had to hold on a little longer.
"Let it go!" Simon yelled. We both screamed as the magic power left our bodies in perfect sync. The dark guild members around us fell as either a sword or sharp hit them. The only one left standing was Akio. Simon was still standing, but I was slowly slumping to the ground. Akio slowly clapped.
"A beautiful performance, but you've lost all your energy. If you don't mind, I'm going to take what I came for and be on my way." Akio walked towards me and reached his hand forward. A sword stopped him halfway to my arm.
"You'll take her over my dead body," Simon declared. Akio looked at him with a serious face.
"That was in the plan." A burst of black magic came our of Akio's hand and Simon crumpled.
"Simon!" I screamed as Akio grabbed my arm.
"The most powerful ice mage in 100 years and she's all mine." Akio grinned as I lost consciousness.
