It had been a few days since Lexi had left Fairy Tail. The whole guild was in a depressive state, especially Lisanna. Mirajane was trying to cheer her sister up, but it was hard with Natsu being gone. The guild doors slammed open and cracked against the stones. Natsu stood there in the dust, his eyes blazing red.
"Where is she?" he demanded. Lisanna looked up at him sadly.
"She left, Natsu. We haven't heard anything from her." Natsu kicked over a table, steam hissing from him.
"D**n that child! I'll smell her out if I have to, but I will have an explanation!" he bellowed. The guild went silent as Lisanna slowly walked up to Natsu and hugged him. She sobbed into his scarf as he held her gently, the fire still burning in his eyes. Simon and I were sitting at the bar enjoying lunch together as we watched the scene sadly. Mama, Papa, and Erza weren't back yet. Happy must've flown Natsu back, but the blue exceed was no where to be seen.
"Naaaatsuuu!" Spoke to soon. The cat came flying in and landed on a table. He crossed his arms. "You could've waited until I'd properly rested to go running off again."
"My daughter left the guild. What did you want me to do? Dawdle?" Natsu demanded. Happy pouted. Lisanna hadn't released Natsu yet, but he was looking at me and Simon intensely. Natsu picked Lisanna up and walked over to us, sitting on a stool.
"What happened?" he wondered.
"We got back to find Kyle and Lexi fighting. She said she was leaving the guild and beat Kyle, then just left," Simon explained.
"That's not like her. And Kyle should've won that fight. Lexi's strong, but Kyle knows how to get in close enough to make her magic useless. They've been sparring long enough," Natsu mused. According to Papa, Natsu would've been running out of the guild by now, but I guess in his older years he was gaining wisdom.
"Kyle, Kass, and Lucky went after her. We haven't heard from them yet," I told Natsu. The words seemed to load in his brain.
"Kyle, Kass, and Lucky?" he repeated. Me and Simon nodded. Natsu gently sat Lisanna on the stool next to him and stood up.
"Happy, let's go," Natsu said seriously. Lisanna dried her eyes and stood up as well.
"I'm coming with you Natsu," she declared. Natsu nodded once curtly. He grabbed her hand and they went running out of the guild together with Happy flying after them. I couldn't help but notice how similar it was to when Kyle left with Kass and Lucky.
"This is boring, just sitting in the guild while everyone runs off," I muttered leaning against Simon.
"Just another day at home for us," Simon told me, kissing the top of my head. I sighed. Nine more months of this and who knows how many more spent at home, while Simon got to run off making a living for us. I frowned in discontentment at the idea of this life. Is this how Mama felt when she married Papa and started our family? Simon grabbed my hand and pulled me off the stool.
"C'mon Kk. Let's go for a walk," he suggested. I smiled and went with him. We walked out of the guild and through the town along the river. We laughed and talked about little things, until we had followed the river right out of town. Simon held my hand as we walked along the bank of the river into the trees. I felt Simon tug at my hand gently and I paused. He had fallen behind me by about half a step and as I turned around, I smiled even wider. He was smiling at me with a sweet grin, a small box in the hand that wasn't holding mine.
"Shh. Don't say anything yet," Simon told me as I opened my mouth. He got down on one knee and held my hand, pulling me closer to him.
"Katie Fullbuster, I have loved you for more days than I can count. I want to spend the rest of my life with you and have our own little family. Will you make me the happiest person in Fiore and marry me?" I brought my free hand up to cover my mouth and wipe away the tears that were starting to form. For once in my life, I was speechless. I knew that we had talked about getting married and that it was going to happen, but I never expected him to propose, especially not with elegant words like this. I just nodded my head, unable to say anything. Simon smiled at me and slipped the ring onto my finger, kissing my hand gently. I knelt down and hugged him tightly.
"I love you so much, Simon," I told him through tears, with a light laugh. Simon chuckled as well and hugged me tighter. We just sat like that in silence for a few more minutes before we broke apart. Simon dried my eyes from my tears and helped me stand up. He placed a hand over my tummy and I placed my ringed finger on top of his.
"You and me plus baby makes three," I told him. He pulled me in and kissed me passionately. There was a gentle love in this kiss and I returned it with the same emotion. It felt so right here in the trees with just me and Simon. I understand why Mama spent so much time at home with us, why she decided to give up those few years of adventure for me and Kyle. There was something so loving and worthwhile about this choice and having a family.
"Let's go home Kk," Simon told me when he broke away from the kiss. I nodded and yawned. I was so tired from everything lately. Simon grinned and pulled me onto his back.
"I can walk home Simon," I protested.
"Can't your shinning knight carry his ice princess?" he questioned. I pouted, but wrapped my arms around him and let him carry me. I rested my head against his back and closed my eyes for just a moment. What felt like minutes later, I was being tucked into bed with Simon cuddling up next to me.
"Good night KK. I love you," he whispered.
"Night Simon. Love ya, too," I mumbled back as I went back into dreamland with Simon's warm arms securely holding me.
