I decided to continue to wear my necklace now that Akio had been incarcerated for six months. There wasn't much he could do from a prison cell. It helped that Simon was almost always with me now. With us both being 18 now, we even moved into our own apartment together. I wouldn't say that Mama and Papa were thrilled with the idea, but they didn't openly oppose it either. Erza seemed to think it was great idea and that was probably part of the reason they didn't say too much.

"Hey, Simon. Do you think we should take a job? Lexi and Kyle went on one yesterday," I asked. I was sitting on a chair with my feet over the arms as he was sorting through his requip items.

"I suppose we could. We're running low on money," Simon responded. I smiled, before jumping up and running into the bathroom. Simon followed worriedly. He held my hair away from my face as I threw up.

"Are you okay? What's wrong?" he asked after.

"I don't know. It just happened. I feel fine now," I told him. He looked at me with worry on his face.

"You should see someone," he insisted. I sighed.

"Simon..."

"No. Don't start. I'm not taking you on a mission if you're sick," Simon cut me off.

"Fine! Let's go see Wendy," I said. I grabbed my coat and slipped it on. Simon followed me closely as we walked to the guildhall to find Wendy. She was in the infirmary tending to some cuts Natsu had gotten on his last job.

"Hi guys! I'll help you in just a minute," Wendy called and we took a seat. Natsu's pink hair had strands of gray in it now. Wendy scolded him for working beyond his years. Natsu just scoffed and went running out of the infirmary.

"So what's wrong today?" Wendy asked, gesturing for me to sit on the examination bed. Simon stood next to me.

"She just threw up for no reason," Simon explained before I opened my mouth. Wendy studied me for a moment.

"Any other oddities?" she asked.

"Well, now that you mention it, my period is a few days late," I answered. Wendy grinned from ear to ear.

"There's no problem here. You're pregnant. Congratulations," she told us. Me and Simon's jaws dropped.

"Wh...what? How can you be sure?" I asked.

"The symptoms. And you smell different. I've smelt a lot of pregnant women, and you fit it," Wendy explained. Simon turned to look and me and grinned.

"We're pregnant," he whispered. I smiled back.

"We're pregnant," I replied. Simon threw his arms around me and hugged me tightly, placing kisses all over my face. I giggled and gently pushed him away. Wendy smiled as well.

"It's wise not to tell anyone for a few months. There's still a lot that can happen. Just be careful. No fighting dark guilds or other stressful missions," Wendy ordered.

"Yes. Yes of course," Simon mused. Wendy shook her head slightly.

"You're free to go. Remember, low stress," Wendy told us once again. Simon took my hand as we exited the infirmary with goofy grins. I was sure the guild noticed. They must've been through the same thing when our generation were born.

"Simon. Let's take this one!" I suggested enthusiastically. He took the paper from my hand and looked it over. "It's just a cleaning job." He nodded and I skipped over to Mira. She entered the job with a smile on her face.

"Have fun you two!" she called as we left. We waved goodbye and connected hands on our way to the train station.

"I can't believe it," Simon told me on the train. I smiled up at him.

"Neither can I," I answered. I kissed his lips quickly. When I pulled away, I saw his smile had turned into a thoughtful look. "What's wrong?"

"We're not married," he answered. I shrugged my shoulders.

"Why does that matter? We were talking about getting married anyway," I said.

"I promised your dad I wouldn't get you pregnant until after we were married," Simon explained. I burst into a fit of laughter. People looked at us and I slapped my hand over my mouth to quiet my sounds.

"You're worried about Papa?" I asked. Simon looked at me confused.

"Of course. I made a promise and broke it. That's serious Katie," Simon insisted. I controlled my laughter and hugged him tightly.

"I know you promised, but you couldn't do much to control this. We'll get married as soon as we can if it makes you feel better," I promised him. Simon kissed my nose.

"I love you, my ice princess," he told me.

"I love you too, my shining knight," I responded.

"Now, you need some sleep. I know you didn't get any last night," Simon ordered. I rolled my eyes as I yawned and snuggled into his chest. His arm wrapped around me and I fell asleep quickly.

I floated between the cells that held many high risk prisoners, such as Akio. He smirked when he saw me.

"I knew you'd come to find me eventually," he said. His blue hair was in disarray around his face. He looked like he was going mad.

"I'm not here on purpose," I responded. He laughed.

"You know how to harness the powers of the locket, but you can only do it while unconscious. Did Wendy tell you how she got that locket?" he asked. I stared at him in shock.

"How did you know?"

"I gave it to her. I manipulated her. I've wanted you by my side since I learned that Gray's precious daughter had ice make magic. You should just join me Katie. We could have a great life together," Akio's words were warm and inviting, but I knew what he was doing. He was tricking me.

"No. I'm going to marry Simon and have a great life with him," I answered. Akio smirked.

"Yes. Knight in shinning armor," was all he said. I wanted to reach through the glass separating us and punch him.

"You can try, but you can't touch," he taunted. I growled in frustration and reached a hand to tear the locket from my neck.

"Katie? Are you alright?" Simon asked as I woke up. I held the locket in my hand and stared at it. I couldn't wear it any more.

"Yeah. I'm fine," I answered. I shoved the locket into my pocket and fingered the torn edge on my coat from where I'd ripped it to help Lexi months ago. Simon grabbed my hand.

"Are you sure?" he insisted. I smiled at him.

"Yes, Simon. I'm fine. I'll always be fine as long as you're here," I said. He smiled and pulled me closer. I rested my head against him once again and took in his scent. It was so soothing. The smell of worn leather and sharpened metal. How I loved that smell and how I loved him.
